IniMaint

IniMaint is a 32 bit OS/2 Shareware PM Application that allows the
user complete and easy access to any INI file, including the
OS2SYS.INI and OS2.INI files.

IniMaint offers the following features:

. Automatic recognition and Repair of condition where OS2.INI and
OS2SYS.INI files cannot be updated because of problems with the
Read Only File Attribute.

. The Explain feature will explain the meaning of the entries in the
OS2.INI and OS2SYS.INI files that are standard OS/2, PM or WPS type
entries. The explanation includes the real name of any WPS Objects
that are selected in any of the windows.

. When started, IniMaint will display the last INI file that it was
accessing or, if this is the first execution, the OS2.INI file. The
display will show all of the Application Names in the INI file, all
of the Key Names for the currently selected Application and the Key
Value for the selected Key Name. Movement among the Applications and
Keys is a simple as clicking on the appropriate choice.

. The Key Values are displayed in both Hexidecimal and Character and
can be directly edited by the user in the display window.

. The Application and Key information can be renamed, deleted,
duplicated, or changed using dialogs.

. The Applications in any INI file can be formed into user defined
Groups, thus facilitating manipulation of parts of any INI file, for
example, all OS2.INI entries for installed applications can be formed
into a Group making it easy to move this information from one
computer to another or from one version of OS/2 to another without
having to reinstall. Once a Group is defined it will appear on the
Move, Copy and Size menus automatically.

. The OS2SYS.INI and OS2.INI files contain a large amount of
information placed there by OS/2 and WPS. When changes are made to
the Desktop or directory structures, much of the old information is
not removed from the INI files, new information is added. The Repair
facility will decode and cross reference all of this information,
compare it to the current Desktop and either list or remove those
entries which are no longer current.

. The current INI file can be searched for any Application Name,
Application Key Name or Application Value.

. The Copy and Move facilities allow for Copying or Moving entire INI
files or a selected part of the INI file, including any defined
Groups.

. Compare allows the user to compare the current INI file to another
file on multiple levels in order to determine exactly where the file
are different. The Compare will not only identify differences, but
will identify any item that is in either file but not in the other.

. The Size of the entire INI file or a portion of it, including any
defined Groups, can be calculated.

. In addition to the Copy and Move, the Backup facility will remember
the name of the current Backup files and automatically use them each
time a backup is requested for that INI file.

. Since it is very common to want to do many of the IniMaint
functions to either the OS2.INI or OS2SYS.INI files, most of the menu
items have the ability to directly specify either of these files
without having to make them the current INI file.

. There is a complete, fully indexed and cross referenced Help.

. The Copy and Move functions are executed via a non-PM program,
INICOPY, which can be included in CMD files to do various kinds of
INI file manupulation without having to run the PM interface.

. The operation of the program is fully configurable using the large
number of Options in the Options Dialog.
