I&UK GENEALOGY CONFERENCE - IGI CD-ROM DOWNLOADS 24 May 1994 ================================================ This index is a list of IGI data which I&UK participants have downloaded from CD-ROM for personal use and have made available for reference in electronic files. It will be updated periodically and made available through GSDS. The last update date is indicated on the top line of the file. It should be noted that the IGI is copyrighted by the LDS and data downloaded from the IGI must be for personal use only or for the personal use of others. The LDS do not allow IGI data to be sent across electronic networks but will allow transfer to others via diskette. It is the responsibility of anyone holding IGI data to ensure that such copyright is not breached. Inclusion in this list is open to anyone (not just I&UK residents). The minimum requirement for inclusion is that a file should contain a complete extract of all instances of a Surname (not just one given name) and that it should cover at least one complete locality (eg county). Any person wishing to have their electronic IGI holdings included in the next release of this index should send the details to Keith Smith, through the I&UK-GENE Echomail Conference or via Netmail on node 2:253/188.16. Details should include:- (1) Surname extracted (2) Locality (eg county) (3) Type of Extract (exact match or similar) (4) Data Format (Text, Gedcom 2.0, Gedcom 2.1, or .DBF) (5) Version of IGI from which Download was made (ie 1988 or 1993) (6) Name of File Holder (7) Whether or not the data has been supplemented from other sources AREA: This indicates the locality on which the download is based and is either a Chapman County Code or one of the following:- ENG = England SCT = Scotland WLS = Wales IRL = Ireland UK = England, Scotland & Wales USA = United States of America EUR = Europe ASA = Asia AUS = Australia NZ = New Zealand ITA = Italy SWZ = Switzerland TYPE: The type of download is defined as EXT = Exact match on Surname spelling SIM = Similar match on Surname spelling FORMAT: The format of the data is defined as:- TXT = Text Format (suitable for re-loading to IGI255 program) G20 = Gedcom 2.0 format G21 = Gedcom 2.1 format DBF = dBASE format The "YR" column indicates which version of the IGI was used to create the file. The "SUPP" column will contain a "Y" if the downloaded data has been supplemented by the addition of names from other sources.
