Knitted Golf Club Covers (Socks) Needles: # 1 for ribbing # 2 or 3 for main body (Or use dbl needle if you perfer) Yarn 4 Ply (4 colors are used in pattern, select your own) With #1 needles cast on 54 sts in main color. Work in ribbing of K2, P2 fir 4 inches or desired length. For upper portion of cover change to larger needles. For four stripes, K in stockinette st for the first 9 rows after the ribbing, change to contrasting color and work 2 rows. Work main color in 3 rows to seperate stripes, each stripe consists of 2 rows. Repeat until 4 contrasting stripes are made. After the 4 fourth stripe, work 2 rows in main color, next row, continuing in main color make 9 decreases evenly spaced. (Be sure to decrease at each end of the needle and in center of each decrease row so the mitt will be balanced and rounded when finished.) Knit or purl, whichever the case may be, the row between decrease rows. Work rows with 8 dec, 7 dec, 6 dec, and 2 rows of 5 decs. Remove needle and insert crochet hook thru all stitches (about 20) pull yarnthru and fasten. Single crochet, slip stitch or sew the sides of the mitts. For three stripes omit the first stripe and work the same as for the first mitt. For 2 stripes, omit the first and last stripes. For 1 stripe, omit the first two stripes and the last stripe. For the tab on end of each mitt, ch 15, turn, sc in each st. Pull thru end of mitt and fasten.
