That recipe sounds real similar to a salad recipe of mine.  I cook the
lentils w/ garlic and other spices; but add raw carrots, onions, celery,
radishes, cherry tomatoes or other good salad veggies.  For meat I add some
good roast beef, sliced thin and cut into 1/4" strips.  Usually 1/4 the
weight of lentils is the ammount of beef.  Also makes a real good pita
filling.
