                         Cream Cheese Cookies

1/2 C. shortening             1 well beaten egg
1/2 C. sugar                  2 C. flour
4 ounces or 1/2 C. cream      1/2 t. salt
  cheese                      1 t. baking powder

     Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar; add softened cheese and half the

egg; mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients; shape in rolls. Wrap in waxed paper
chill thoroughly. Slice thin and place on greased cookie sheet. Brush with

remaining egg and allow to dry. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 10

minutes. Makes 5 dozen small cookies.
