=========================================================================== BBS: The GWE BBS [ASV/CIN] Date: 12-09-07 (28 19) Number: 328 From: CINDY CLIFTON #45 @9415*2 Refer#: NONE To: ALL Recvd: NO Subj: Soft Pretzels Conf: (37) Home Cooki --------------------------------------------------------------------------- From my church cookbook. 1cup warm water(105deg.to 115 deg.) 1 egg 1 pkg. dry yeast 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 cups flour 1/4 cup sugar 1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon water 2 tablespoons soft margarine Kosher coarse salt Measure warm water into large bowl. Sprinkle in yeast,stir until dissolved.  Add sugar, salt,margarine,egg and 1-1/4 cups flour. Beat until smooth,then  add enough additional flour to make a stiff dough. Place on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Cover bowl tightly with aluminum foil. refrigerate 2-24 hours(the longer the better). Shape into pretzels of desired size. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Blend together egg yolk,and water brush pretzels with mixture. Sprinkle with coarse salt. Let pretzels rise in a warm place 15 min. Bake at 400 deg. about 15 min.,or until golden brown. Remove from baking sheets and cool on wire racks. Makes 16 pretzels. Cindy Clifton
