The 1994 IBM OS/2 Fiesta Bowl Advertisements ============================================ The following WAV files are included in this archive: Ad1.Wav First 15-second IBM advertisement Ad2.Wav Second 15-second IBM advertisement Ad3.Wav (and so on) Ad4.Wav Ad5.Wav Ad6.Wav Ad7.Wav Clip.Wav Brief segment with announcer indicating the sponsors The 1994 Fiesta Bowl was broadcast on NBC (the National Broadcasting Company) in the United States on January 1, 1994, starting at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (New York time). In each of the halves, IBM sponsored eight 15-second commercials. They were presented in the order in which these WAV files are numbered, with Ad4 repeated as the eighth. IBM also sponsored a short announcement from Lee Reiswig, President, IBM Personal Software Products, in which he indicated that IBM software products would be donated to both the University of Miami and the University of Arizona (the two participating teams). Unfortunately, the recorded announcement was interrupted at one point by a glitch originating at NBC, so that recording is not included in this archive. All these WAV files are presented in 11 KHz, 8-bit mono. Therefore, they are not of the best playback quality. Giving up the quality reduces the size of the WAV files, however. The recording device (a VCR) used before digitizing did not perform very well, so there is some background noise arising from that interstep. These WAV files may be played under OS/2 using any of the following methods: (1) Digital Audio applet in the Multimedia folder (MMPM/2); (2) PLAY command from the OS/2 command line (MMPM/2); (3) Media Player applet in Win-OS/2 or Windows. A sound card (with appropriate driver), such as the Creative Labs SoundBlaster or IBM M-Audio Capture and Playback Adapter, is required. (Results will be largely unsatisfactory when trying to play back these files through the standard PC speaker.) Be sure to lower the volume before playing back these files to make sure that the level is not too high for your installation.
