The other day I received a piece of Net mail from one of the distributors of Online News and Review. It came to me from Dave Bealer, the sysop of The Puffin's Nest in Pasadena, Maryland (410-437-3463). With the joyous news that someone (besides myself) was reading my magazine, Dave sent me a file which contained the past few issues of Random Access Humor. "Why?" you may well ask, did Dave Bealer send these to me. Well, I'll tell you. Dave is the Publisher of RAH and, like all good publishers, wanted to increase the distribution of his magazine. After reading my mail and adding The Puffin's nest to the list of Online News distributors, I quickly moved the file Dave sent to my test directory. Inside the zipped file was a few more zipped files. I unzipped one (at random) and decided to take a look at it. My eyes were quickly drawn to the WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! area of the page. Fearing something horrible, I read on..... .....and darn glad I did too! Random Access Humor is great! Dave's mind is as twisted as mine. The WARNING! area was just to let folks know that if they decided to copy the way Random Access Humor is published, the security Director (Vinnie "the Knife" Calamari) would feed them to Rabid Radioactive hamsters. I found this refreshing. Finally, a magazine that didn't hide behind small print! You NEVER see these warnings in other well know magazines (unless you read the small print). Paging through the Feb. 93 issue was fun. Finally I found out what those confusing letters on monitors mean. You know CGA, EGA, ECT... If you want to find out too, you need to read the Feb. issue, cuz I'm not gonna tell ya! I decided to check out some of the other issues that I had. One (I think it was the Jan. 93 issue) had a reviews of the 1992 industry awards, was not much of a shock to see Software Toolworks take the award for Spell Checker with the Dane Qual Speeling Cheekr. Let's look at Dec. 92.....Now this is priceless! The songs in that issue had me rolling! If you are looking for a good laugh take a look at Random Access Humor. It is published monthly and is available in ascii text and Readroom formats. RAH can be found on the Publishers bbs listed at the top of this article or from my BBS. Add me to your list of distributors Dave!
