From: Randy Edwards Area: Protocols To: All 16 Jan 92 18:40:32 Subject: External protocol help UpdReq I undertook what I thought would be an easy task tonight -- installing the Kermit and Ascii protocols into Max. Easy, yeah, right. For some reason things just aren't working out. When I run the Ascii protocol it just says: OATS (Opus Ascii Transfer System) Version 1.02 Written for Opus use by Vince Perriello Can't open ctl file: No such file or directory and likewise, Kermit just babbles: OKermit Version 1.05 Adapted for Opus use by Vince Perriello Can't open ctl file: No such file or directory I've edited the Protocols.Ctl file and recompiled Max.Ctl with that. Okay, fine. Max tells me this in the log file (cut down a bit and wrapped for brevity): # 16 Jan 18:29:35 MAX External program: `Kermit.Exe Kermit00.Ctl -p1 -b38400 -t0 -m1 -f1 -r67' # 16 Jan 18:32:23 MAX External program: `Ascii.Exe Ascii00.Ctl -p1 -b38400 -t0 -m1 -f1 -r65' Okay, everything seems fine. The Ascii00.Ctl and Kermit00.Ctl are being made -- I've looked at them in the \Max directory. But why the *#&%)(@! doesn't the stupid protocols see the *.CTL files instead of telling me "Can't open ctl file." Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. .Randy --------------= Brought to you compliments of Plastic Tower =--------------- From: Chris Epler Area: Protocols To: Scott Dudley 16 Jan 92 23:02:00 Subject: TIMEOUT BUG! UpdReq I found a bug when downloading files. If the transfer takes longer than the system estimated, but allowed the person to do the transfer...when they run out of time the system will say "Timeout" in the transfer error/status area on the screen, lock up for a while, and then either the person will have to hang up, or possibly MAX did... This was with the Zmodem protocol when I was doing a LOT of compiling off and on in the background under OS/2 which boosted the transfer time up over their time limit. --------------= Brought to you compliments of Plastic Tower =--------------- From: Charlie Johnson Area: Protocols To: All 18 Jan 92 05:32:14 Subject: J-Modem & SuperZ-Modem UpdReq Is anyone running SZ-Modem and J-Modem on Maximus? If so, please post your Protocol.Ctl so I can see how to do it. Also can I use the same version of SZ-Modem or J-Modem version that callers would use with Telix or does it have to be made specificly for Maximus 2.xx? Having full SZ-Modem would be add an especially nice touch to any board. cj
