Subject: "ANSI" Music in bbs screens.            

Hello!

    First this little disclaimer:

There may be as many ways to put music in bbs screen as Wild Cat sysops.
And there may be better ways to do this. I can only report on the way I
have found it easiest for me to do the job. I DID NOT WRITE THE MUSIC,	
I adapted it from bbs files of others without their permission.	

First, have an ANSI screen that inspires you to the music from this
file that seems to fit it. ALWAYS add the music after you have finished
the screen. If you want to change a screen in the DRAW program, first 
remove the music and add it back after you save the screen in the 
draw program. Save all screens at 70 spaces in the DRAW. I add the 
music to the bottom of the screen with a program called MERGE2.ZIP.

Test you work with the A_TYPE program. The music may play slower then
you want to your callers. You can speed it up by increasing the value
after "T" in the music code. Hint: I renamed the A_TYPE.EXE program to 
MUSIC.EXE and put it in my utility directory and path statement,
as I found A_TYPE hard to type.<G> I use a program called MERGE2.ZIP
to add the music code to the screens, also placed in my utility directory.  

I use G-Edit, other editors will work, to select the music I want to use
from the .MUS files, deleating all other music and rename the file saved
to the tune in it and the back-up to save the orginal file. If you know
a better way to do this job, PLEASE let me know and I will add it to
this file.
  
I advise my users who want to hear the music to use QMODEM, as I have
used this program for several years. The newest registered version of
QMODEM supports music, as do the older versions. The newest Test Drive
may not support music at this time? I am told other comm programs also
support the music.

I must add that I am not an artist or a musican and have no motive for
making this file other then to encourage others to use art and music in
their bbs programs. Including the fine artists who create our wonderful
bbs screens. I suggest that when you use someone's art that you do NOT	
remove their name from it if you can, and acknowledge the orginal artist
if you can. Remember they are artists, as you are sysops and appreciate
it when you acknowledge their work efforts.
