Subdirectory: In order to reduce the clutter in the Windows™ environment it is good practice to create subdirectories and separate certain type of files. This will make locating these files easier when needed and will also improve the performance of the Windows environment. If after a few years of use there are several hundred files in the Windows environment then every request to open a program needs to go through these files attempting to locate the necessary files. Even with accelerator video boards and such the process is overburdened with this clutter. An example of a Windows directory with suggested subdirectories might be: C:\WINDOWS\ \ICO\ \NOTEPAD\ \PBRUSH\ \PIF\ \SYSTEM\ (created upon installation of Windows)
