PAGEMAKER 5.0 THE NEXT STEP Now that QuarkXPress for windows has altered the desktop publishing landscape, Aldus is responding with Version 5.0 of PageMaker for Windows. In an effort to reestablish itself with graphic artists and to maintain its popularity with users preparing both short and long documents, Aldus had added over 100 new features, including the Pantone color matching system and the ability to print color separations. PageMaker 5.0 makes manipulating and editing text and graphics easier; in increments of 1/100 of a degree either manually or via a numeric control palette also gives you the ability to crop, nudge, scale, size, and skew blocks of grpahics and text via push buttons. And editing rotated blocks is now done directly in the page layout. Other enhancements to Version 5.0 help link PageMaker files to one another and to other Windows applications. Now you can open almost any number of PageMaker publications at once and drag and drop blocks across them. It also supports OLE for sharing data with or placing pubs in other applications. Aldus is on the right track. EDITOR CLYDE ARNOLD BITS N' BYTES BBS
