WIP - WORK IN PROGRESS due period unavailable. ******************************************************************************* 1) Support for: CMS (Colorado) Jumbo series, ( Not Trakker ) IOMEGA 250. Archive XL Series * Not Tested In-House* Mountain Filesafe * Not Tested In-House* NOTE: Older Colorado drives (with id jumpers) may require you to select GENERIC QIC 40 or GENERIC QIC 80 in the settings. NOTE: OLDER DRIVES - If your drive did not work as a 3rd floppy device under a MS-DOS program, it will not work as a 3rd device under OS/2. It should work fine as a 2nd floppy with either of the GENERIC QIC settings. This is a limitation of hardware/firmware not software. ******************************************************************************* 2) 32-Bit Data Compression. ******************************************************************************* 3) Floppy Controller Only, No High Speed Controllers, or Printer Port Devices. NOTE: AB-10 users should select the AB-10 option in the settings. ******************************************************************************* 4) Single Cartridge Backup and Restore Only. WIP ******************************************************************************* 5) Write Errors are Terminal. This Release does not automatically update the Bad Sector map, a reformat is recommended. WIP EARLY ******************************************************************************* 6) Text mode restore allows restores from tape after booting from Floppy. FTDVR.SYS must be present on the boot floppy and referenced in the config.sys for the text mode restore (BMREST.EXE) to work. If you are using the HPFS file system, the correct HPFS drivers must also be loaded so that the HPFS file system will start. EXAMPLE: DEVICE=A:\FTDVR.SYS ******************************************************************************* 7) Compatibility Problem with Stacker for OS/2. Results: Unpredictable results. Symptom: Backmaster Crashes when tape drive is accessed. Workaround: REM out Stacker statements in config.sys ( DO NOT DO THIS ON YOUR BOOT PARTITION ) WIP ******************************************************************************* 8) Driver does not work on PS/2 machines. Attempting to run the beta on an PS/2 may cause the computer to lock-up or crash. We are working on resolving this as soon as possible. WIP ******************************************************************************* 9) Floppy support is temporarily disabled at this early stage of the beta, it will be included early in the beta period. ******************************************************************************* 10) Verify of files is not yet included in the beta. WIP ******************************************************************************* 11) Number of bytes used is incorrect as reported with the "get tape info..." option. WIP EARLY ******************************************************************************* 12) Major features are frozen at this point in time. We will consider your suggestions for future releases. ******************************************************************************* T H I N G S T O L O O K F O R::: 1) Excessive retries( back and forth tape motion ) followed by error. 2) OS/2 System Error Popup "FTDVR.SYS is not functioning. This seems to occur on some 8MB Ram machines running Lan Server requestor. 3) Any TRAPS or Dumps that reference FTDVR.SYS. 4) BackMaster disappearing for unknown reason. Reboot is probably necessary to Reset Floppy Driver and controller. ******************************************************************************* If you encounter any problems please note the following in your report using the bugrpt.frm included with the beta or available in the beta files area of the BBS. 1) BETA and FTDVR.SYS RELEASE NUMBERS/DATES/TIMES 2) Floppy Controller Manufacturer. 3) System Ram Installed. 4) Tape Drive Manufacturer and model. 5) Video Adapter. 6) Video Drivers in use. 7) Program used to format tape (BackMaster or other). 8) Version of OS/2 (must be 2.1 GA).
