The game screen, and the problems presented will never turn out the same twice. The SELF-RUNNING TUTORIAL teaches all steps of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division, including place values & carrying. The "LOCK" function enhances learning for beginners by allowing drill of selected values. 2-DIGIT NUMBERS offer more advanced practice. BONUS POINTS & SCORE TABLES give motivation & incentive. Excellent also for GED study. WHY ? I am a father of 2 boys and 2 girls, now in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We wanted a way for all these ages to practice Arithmetic skills at home, independently and at their own pace. We also wanted a program to be SELF-GUIDING & SELF-TEACHING so that they could advance their own level of difficulty even without a parent sitting down with them. We tried many popular programs, both shareware and retail, but never found a perfect fit. I wanted good, skill-building practice. I also wanted to avoid stereotyped characters & situations, which often emphasize some kind of combat-role. My kids wanted variety, color, sound, and "LOOK-AT-ME" score incentive. Some found arcade-style chasing, shooting, & obstacle-dodging to be distracting. My youngest got frustrated by completing a difficult round of problems, then losing credit for it by failing to jump an arcade obstacle. My oldest found time limits frustrating when practicing more difficult problems. My kids wanted to get their scores from their math skills. So, FLASH MATH (TM) was born to satisfy all of us.
