SO Int Conf AIDS. 1994 Aug 7-12;10(2):196 (abstract no. PB0796). Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94371418 AB OBJECTIVE: Describe metabolic alterations in patients with VIH illness. MATERIAL AND METHOD: There were studied 50 patients; 25 of them showed metabolic alterations. We determined total linfocytes, CD4, triglicerides, HDL cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, lactic deshidrogen, blood glucosa, protein bound glucosa, iron, total iron bound capacity and porcentage of saturations. RESULT: Hyperglycemia in five patients, protein bound glucosa raised in seven patients. Hepatic metabolism with hipertriglyceridemia in 15, HDL cholesterol in 22, SGOT and SGPT raised in 13 patients, LDH in 20 and alkaline phosphatase in 15 patients. Iron metabolism with low levels blood of iron in ten patients; total iron bound capacity less than 239 ug/dl in 16; iron fixed percent raised in eight patients and ferritin levels more than 550 mg/ml in 16 patients. All the patients showed linfocytes less than 1000/mm3. Only two patients had more them 200 CD4/mm3 and did not showed metabolic alterations in iron and liver.
