Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94370166 AB OBJECTIVE: Our purpose in this communication is knowledge of the natural history of vertically acquired human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) in mexicans. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We realized a longitudinal study of children with HIV infection by perinatal transmission of august 1987 to january 1994. RESULTS: We studied 65 children born to HIV-1 seropositive women from birth to 8 years age, 40 patients were female (61.6%) and 25 (38.4%) male. Actually are live 51 (78.5%) and 14 (21.5%) had died. The transmission of HIV was during pregnancy or children are infected (49.2%), 26 (40%) are healthy (Stage P3) and 7 (10.8%) are stage PO of CDC classification. We observed the serorevertion at one year age. CONCLUSIONS: We found a highest incidence of infection transmission in (55%). Than tobe explicate for selection biase and number of patients.
