Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94369881 AB We evaluated the sensibility, especificity and eficiency of SERODIA-HIV particle agglutinatination assay, from Fujirebio Inc., Tokyo, Japan. It was tested 49 Seros samples, being 17 from a national panel, produced by the Laboratory with a National reference for Retrovirus (BIOMANGUINHOS/FIOCRUZ), 12 seros of anti-HIV-1 low titer panel (Boston Biomedica Inc.) and 20 samples from the routine of the Public Health Central Laboratory Noel Nutels/Rio de Janeiro. The samples were considered truly positive or negative in according to the Western Blot and the reaction interpretation criteria was that recommended by the CDC. From the total of the appraised samples, one remained undetermined and the sensibility, especificity and eficiency of the test determined, respectively in 100%, 85.7% and 97.9%. There were few variations among the lectures achieved by different technicians, without presenting significative alterations. The results confirm that the tests Serodia can be widely used like a selecting teste for detecting of antibodies anti-HIV-1, because of the fact of being simple and consequently not needing any equipment to be realized, they present excelent sensibility.
