SO Int Conf AIDS. 1994 Aug 7-12;10(1):218 (abstract no. PB0301). Unique Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94369758 AB OBJECTIVE: To improve the immunological status through restoring the normal CD4 level and clinically control the progression of HIV illness. METHODS: Western blot confirmed HIV subjects (34) with immunological assessment by peripheral lymphocyte immuno phenotyping of different age groups of different sex acquired the infection through heterosexual promiscuity (28), blood transfusion (5) and breast feeding (1) were kept under homeopathic treatment. Reassessment of immunological value was performed after mean interval of six months. Comparative values were analysed keeping in view of haematological/clinical status. RESULTS: Total Cases--34 (Male-32 & Female-2). On repetition of CD4 assay the improvement was noticed in 23 cases (67.64%), status quo in 4 cases (11.76%) and no improvement in 7 cases (20.58%). The enhancement of CD4+ upto 10% in 13 cases and above 10% in 10 cases whereas absolute count enhancement upto 200 cells in 3 cases and above 200 cells in 13 cases were observed. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The trial of homeopathic medicines in 34 cases has shown the improvement of immunological status in 23 cases and maintaining status quo in 4 cases. The haematological values were maintained within normal limit without any further deterioration in clinical status. Further study among the large number of HIV subjects is in progress.
