The reason is that most games the support MT32, General MIDI, LAPC programs and send the respetive commands through the MIDI port of SB16, upon exiting, the games does not reset the MIDI port correctly, and thus loading Windows will produce the above error message. Solution/Action =============== The error can be avoided by Power-off the PC and then Power-On again or by running the SBCONFIG /S command from the SB16 directory. It is also advisable that user who do not have Wave Blaster attached to SB16 to set their MIDI port address to 300 Hex so that games software will not detect it as a MT32, LAPC or General MIDI compatible and try to program them. (Please note that although there is no hardware attached to the MIDI port, however, the I/O address is still accessible).
