"Error found on frame buffer setting. The base address you specified ..... is possibly a ROM region ...." when setting up the VBFS200 frame buffer address. 2. "Error found on frame buffer setting. The base address you specified ....... probably has been used by your expanded memory manager ...." when setting up the VBFS200 frame buffer address. Description ----------- AST Premmia LX P/60 PC user will encounter the above-mentioned problems when attempting to setup the VBFS200 frame buffer address. The reason is this PC has a unique way of mapping the memory addresses through its BIOS CMOS setup. This prevents the VBFS200 setup program from detecting any free UMB. There are two options in the Advanced CMOS setup to affect the memory mapping, the following are their default values: a. Disable shadow memory size : Disabled b. Disable shadow memory base : C8000h Solution/Action --------------- The problem can be solved by changing the above option to the following settings: a. Disable shadow memory size : 64K b. Disable shadow memory base : D0000h The value of "Disable shadow memory base" plus the "Disable shadow memroy size" must be sufficient to cover the frame buffer address of VBFS200. 10th March, 1994 Issue No: TSN94017 Technical Services Department, Creative Technology Ltd
