Question:  When I select Scan, I get an error message saying "Scanner Not 
Ready". How do I get Perceive to find the scanner?

Answer:  Select SETUP, then SCANNER TYPE.  There should only be one selection, 
SCANMAN. Click on that selection, then click on OK.  Select SETUP, then STORE.  
Click OK to accept the default file PERCEPER.SET, then click on YES to replace 
existing file.



Question:  Printing a TIFF file results in a negative image.  Why?

Answer:  Perceive was not designed to print images.  The image must be run 
through the recognition process and then it will print normally as text.

Question:  Every time I try to scan, I get an error message saying "Gray 
Scale Not Supported".  What should I do?

Answer:  Select SETUP, then SCANNER.  Make sure your scanner is set on 
Line Art mode and that the selection on this setup screen is on Line Art.  
If you have a Scanman 256, store this selection by choosing SETUP, then 
STORE.  If you have a Scanman Plus or Model 32, you must enter SETUP and 
identify the scanner as Line Art each time you run Perceive.
