Users report that versions earlier than PTM 1030 are incompatible. EPSON EQUITY IIE This computer has limited compatibility with the Inboard 386. Here are some of the limitations: þ You must turn the power off to reboot. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete, even with INBRDAT.SYS loaded, causes the computer to POST, check for disk drives, and then lock up just before booting to the hard drive. Removing the 80287 dummy plug may resolve this problem. þ When the floppy drives are accessed, the speed indicator light shows a drop back to 8 MHz. After the access finishes, the computer resumes 12-MHz operation. þ With the Inboard 386 installed, only two 8-bit slots are available: one half-length slot if a piggy is installed and one a full-length slot. þ You must remove SIMMs on system board for an Inboard 386 to work. You can't disable the memory down to 256K bytes. EPSON EQUITY III+ The Equity III+ (an AT compatible with switchable speed) has two versions: one that switches between 6, 8, and 10 Mhz and one that switches between 6, 8, and 12 MHz. Intel has not tested the 12-MHz version, though numerous field reports indicate that it is incompatible. Both Intel and Epson have tested the 10-MHz version. For limited compatibility the computer must use EPSON ROM BIOS version 1.5 (or later). Also, when the computer performs a power-on boot, it tests memory twice, disabling any memory supplied by the Inboard 386. For Inboard 386 to backfill conventional memory, the computer must be rebooted using the RESET button on the front of the computer. The computer then makes a single pass through memory, allowing the Inboard 386 to work. Epson reports no other problems. Intel considers the computer to be incompatible and has not tested beyond this point. If Epson changes their ROM BIOS, this problem could be resolved, and Intel will do further testing at that time. EVEREX The Everex computer is incompatible with Inboard 386. Several other computer brands, such as Hertz AT, Club AT, and Bentley AT, use the Everex system board. These are also incompatible. FRANKLIN TELECOM 286C One user reports the computer is incompatible after trying two Inboard 386s. HERTZ AT The Hertz AT is incompatible with Inboard 386. This computer uses an Everex system board, which is incompatible with the Inboard 386. Several other computer brands, such as Club AT and Bentley AT, use the Everex system board. These are also incompatible. HP VECTRA The HP Vectra is incompatible with the Inboard 386. The HP Vectra has the 80286 processor soldered in, and since the 80286 processor needs to be removed and replaced with a cable connected to the Inboard 386, it is incompatible with Inboard 386. HYUNDAI SUPER 286N This computer is incompatible with Inboard 386. It locks up with a parity error after failing the CMOS Checksum. IBM PS/2 MODEL 30 286 Intel has tested this computer and found it incompatible with Inboard 386. IBM XT-286 Intel has tested this computer and found it incompatible with Inboard 386. IBM 3270 AT This computer is compatible with Inboard 386. Use the Installation Kit for IBM PC ATs. If you have a 6-MHz 3270 AT, do not swap the crystal from 12 MHz to 16 MHz when installing the Inboard 386. The computer does not work at the higher frequency. IBM PC AT (6-MHZ) This computer is compatible with Inboard 386. Use the Installation Kit for IBM PC ATs. The Inboard 386 is designed to work with all versions of the 6-MHZ IBM PC AT, including those with the "speed cop" BIOS that checks computer speed. Intel has not tested in IBM ATs that use non-IBM BIOS'. IBM PC AT 339 (8-MHZ) This computer is compatible with Inboard 386. Use the Installation Kit for IBM PC ATs. Intel has not tested in IBM ATs that use non-IBM BIOS'. IDS One computer reported this computer is incompatible. It wouldn't boot with the Inboard 386 installed. INDTECH AT One customer reported this computer is compatible. Installation of the Inboard 386 required the PCIB 3002* installation kit. Note: With the original 80287 Math Module for the Inboard 386 installed and the Inboard operating in Speed 1, the computer either locked up or caused tangent, negative, and square root errors. It's not known if any errors would occur with an Intel 80387 Math CoProcessor. * This Installation Kit is referred to as Packet #HL in FaxBACK document 9012. ITT EXTRA 286 This computer is reported to be incompatible. ITT XL This computer is reported to be incompatible. The system would not boot with an Inboard 386 installed. LEADING EDGE D2 (DC-3010E) A customer reported that this computer is incompatible. The system would not boot with a Inboard 386 installed. System used Phoenix BIOS version 3.10.12. MITSUBISHI MP286 We have customer reports that this computer is compatible. MULTITECH 900 Customers report that this computer is compatible if BIOS version 2.07B is used. BIOS Version 2.01 reported memory size errors with Inboard 386 installed.
