You must also modify the "SQLPME" command in the ORACLE.BAT and INSTALL5.BAT batch files. The batch files are on the RDBMS1 diskette. Both files contain a "SQLPME" line. If this line contains the "/NOIOR" parameter, remove the parameter. Then add the " -m2" parameter, making sure a space precedes the dash and the "m" is lowercase. If a parameter that redirects the output, such as "> NULL", is present, it can remain. NOTE: You must have at least 640K bytes of conventional memory and 1.5M bytes of extended memory to use Oracle. Oracle's phone number is: (415) 598-8111. PARADOX 386 Paradox 386 is compatible with Inboard 386 except when used with the 3Plus Etherlink Plus Adaptor. ILIM and Paradox 386 are incompatible in all computers. PC ANYWHERE This software was tested with the Inboard 386 AT and found to be compatible. Tech Notes: We have reproduced a customer issue where PC Anywhere loaded before loading Desqview would cause an IBM AT's speaker to "scream" and then the computer would lock up. This was found to be BIOS related. IBM BIOS revisions dated 01/04/84 or 06/10/85 would cause the same failure when tested with other 80386 CPU accelerator cards as well as with the Inboard AT. The IBM BIOS version dated 11/15/85 or BIOS's from AMI and Phoenix don't exhibit this failure. PHARLAP DOS EXTENDER 1.1 Version 1.1 is incompatible with Inboard 386. The program executes an invalid code sequence when returning the 80386 from protected mode to real mode. Recent versions of the program are compatible with Inboard 386. QUIBICOMP PICTURE MAKER This image-capturing/image-processing software is incompatible with Inboard 386. The computer randomly locks up within this application. READY! You cannot load Ready! into expanded memory from drive A: or B:. You must load it from the hard disk to use expanded memory. SAMNA AMI This program is compatible with Inboard 386. SAMNA WORD (Field report) One user reports that exiting this program caused the computer to lock up when ILIM386 version 2.05 was installed. A later version of ILIM386 apparently corrects the problem. SMALLTALK (Field report) Smalltalk is reported to be compatible with Inboard 386. SOFTWARE CAROUSEL The Software Carousel version currently being shipped may not be compatible with Inboard 386. If this is the case, it will lock up immediately after it displays the memory configuration screen. Software Carousel's default hot-key sequence for switching programs is Alt-Shift. This sequence ignores the presence of the Ctrl key (for changing speeds with Speed.sys) unless Ctrl is pressed first. The hot- key sequence for Carousel can be changed in the CAROUSEL.OPT file if this becomes a problem. SPACEMAN BY LOGISTICS (Field report) This program is compatible with Inboard 386, but you must load the program at speed 1. SYMPHONY Intel has tested Symphony with Inboard 386, and they are compatible. SYMPHONY 1.1 AND 1.2 You must load Symphony release 1.1 or 1.2 from the keydisk with the computer running in speed 1 or 3. After the program is loaded, you can switch to speed 4. You can install Symphony 1.2 on a hard disk, but you must install it with the computer running in speed 1 or 3. After you've installed Symphony on the hard disk, it will both load and run in speed 4. SYMPHONY & COPROCESSOR ERROR Symphony Release 1.0 and 1.1 use a nonstandard method of detecting the presence of a math coprocessor, which can cause the software to erroneously report that you have a math coprocessor. It can also produce an error when a number is inserted in a cell. This error can occur in any computer, even one without Inboard 386. If Symphony indicates a math coprocessor is present when there isn't one, remove the coprocessor driver from the Symphony driver set by following these steps: 1. Run install 2. Select Advanced functions 3. Select Modify driver set 4. Select Math coprocessor 5. Delete "coprocessor floating point driver." NOTE: This is not an Inboard 386 problem. However, if this problem appears with the installation of Inboard 386, you may still have an 8087 in your computer, or the Inboard 386 exposes the false assumption that Symphony makes to determine math coprocessor presence. If you still have the problem with Release 1.2, upgrade to a more current release or install an 80387. WORD PERFECT WordPerfect is compatible with Inboard 386. However, the WordPerfect tutorial might produce a divide overflow error or lock up the computer if invoked with the computer in fast mode. Switch the computer to slow mode to start the tutorial, and then switch to fast mode after the program has started. WORKVIEW This program is compatible with Inboard 386 but is incompatible with ILIM386 and other EMS emulators. It requires 640K bytes of conventional memory. If you use the Inboard SWAP parameter to fill conventional memory, configure the system board for 256K bytes and set up Inboard to backfill from 256K to 640K bytes. X-AM X-AM is compatible with Inboard 386. This software development and operating environment allows applications to use extended memory directly, and it uses 32-bit instructions and addresses. X-AM is made by IGC, 4800 Great American Pkwy, Santa Clara, CA, 95054, (408) 986- 8373.
