TANDY 1000 TX The Tandy 1000 TX is INCOMPATIBLE with Intel Above Boards and the Matched Memory Classic board. The Tandy 1000TX is an 80286-based system with only 8-bit bus slots. Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards need to be installed in 16-bit bus slots on 80286/386-based systems so they will not function in this system. This system takes the standard 80287 math chip. TANDY 1000 TL Not compatible with any Above Board. These are 80286-based systems have five 8-bit 10" slots (only 3/4 length slots, and we only have full length Above Boards). An Above Board won't even physically fit into the computer. We have not tested with the Matched Memory Classic, but doubt it will work since it was requires a 16bit slot to work with an 80286-based computer. TANDY 1000 TL-II Not compatible with Classic Above Boards (slot too short). Earlier models can be upgraded as follows: Must have motherboard with Model F or higher AND SN 2535679 or higher. Also need TI DOS Ver. 3.11 and SYSROM Ver. 1.11. TOSHIBA T3200 *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of INCOMPATIBILITY with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. Customers have heard from Toshiba Technical Support that the Toshiba T3200 doesn't have enough of a power supply to handle an Above Board, and are telling customers we are INCOMPATIBLE. Tech Notes: In spite of the cautions from Toshiba Technical Support, customers have reported compatibility with Above Boards. We have no information if there would be any damage to the motherboard in these systems running with an Above Board. This is a 12Mhz laptop with 1Mb of onboard RAM. The latest version of the T3200 has built-in support for EMS and a device driver in the config.sys: DEVICE=EMM.SYS. You can't use the Intel memory card for expanded memory when the Toshiba expanded memory driver is installed. If you install our board and driver, the 384K of motherboard memory above 640 becomes unusable. I/O addresses 208 and 218 are used by the machine and should not be used by an Intel memory card. Run Setboard and set for 12Mhz bus. You have to do a MANUAL installation of EMM software. VENDEX TURBO 55 *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility. Tech Notes: Customer reports that the Vendex Turbo 55 (12MHz 286) is shipped with a jumper marked J16 not set to the manufacturer's default. The default is supposed to be J16 installed. This jumper controls the memory size of the motherboard (J16 off = 1MB J16 on = 640K). There must be a jumper on J16 AND 640K on the mother board in order for the AB to supply EXTended memory starting at 1.0M! WAVEMATE 286II Current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards are INCOMPATIBLE with these 80286-based replacement motherboards for XT class systems. These motherboards run the 80286 at 12.5 or 16 MHZ. It has, however, an 8 bit bus. It is compatible with AboveBoard PC IF the customer wants to do some SOLDERING and JUMPERING on the Wavemate motherboard. Information on this procedure is available from Marchon Technology. WELLS AMERICAN AT We have customer reports of compatibility between this 80286-based computer and current Above Boards and the Matched Memory Classic boards. Tech Notes: Tell Setboard to operate at a 10Mhz bus speed if EMM will not install. We have Two customer reports of problems at 8MHz with the discontinued Above Board AT. 1. Cannot warm boot system when Above Board AT is installed. Problem occurs with Ver. 2 of BIOS, but not with Ver. 1. 2. System may work at 8MHz if it is switched to 8MHz after booting at 6MHz. (Still cannot warm boot system.) On 10/3/86 a customer reported that Wells American shipped him a new PAL chip that solved the 8MHZ booting problem. WESTERN DIGITAL MOTHERBOARD *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards in SOME versions of this 80286-based motherboard, (needs specific BIOS versions). Customer had problems installing the Expanded Memory Manager so he spoke with the people that built the motherboard and they determined that he had the wrong BIOS version. The suffix on the BIOS that should work is 063. The suffix of the customer's BIOS is 065. WIN 386 PC *CUSTOMER REPORT* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Reports indicate that SETBOARD was unable to program the EEPROM on some WIN 386 PC systems while in others, SETBOARD ran fine. Documentation on the WIN 386 PC was not available to check for a ROM shadow or cache. System ROM shadows and caches can interfere with SETBOARD. WYSE 286 PC Compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. This computer operates its data bus at 10MHz so it will not be compatible with the discontinued Above Board AT & PS/AT. WYSE 2112 Customers have reported compatibility with the Above Board ISA. It was necessary to configure the Above Board ISA for 2 wait state memory when configuring Expanded Memory on this system. Because the Above Board ISA is reported to be compatible, it is safe to assume that other Intel Above Boards will also be compatible. WYSE 2214 *CUSTOMER REPORT* of compatibility between this 80286-based computer and current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. These systems have a 12.5MHz 0 wait-state mother-board, but the bus is 8Mhz 1 wait-state. One customer successfully used an Above Board AT in this system. Above Board 286 or Plus should be set to 6-8Mhz. ZEOS 286 *Customer Reports* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards in these 80286-based computers. There are reports that the Above Board 286, PS/286, AT, and PS/AT cannot provide extended memory in these computers. The Zeos computers come with 640K conventional and 384K extended memory. Tech notes: Apparently the processor runs at 12MHz, the coprocessor runs at 10MHz, and the data bus runs at 8MHz. ZENITH JAGUAR (286-12MHZ) *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards. Both the processor and the data bus operate at 12MHz. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, AT & PS/AT. ZENITH Z-248 AND HEATHKIT H-248 NOTE: Zenith has shipped MANY bios and hardware versions of the Z-248. There are a wide variety of compatibility problems with various revisions. The Z-248 has a 512K motherboard. Intel memory cards can supply conventional, expanded and extended memory. Zenith supplies an add-on memory board to take conventional memory to 640K and supply up to 2MEG of extended memory. If this board is present, it must be completely filled with extended memory before any extended memory can be provided by Intel memory cards. Some versions of the Z-248 have jumpers that must be moved when installing a 80287 math coprocessor. Customers report the discontinued Above Board AT and PS/AT work, but WILL NOT WORK with the piggyback installed. ZENITH Z-248 12MHZ In addition to the other issues that might arise between Above Boards providing expanded memory in the Zenith 248, the 12MHz version of the Zenith 248 (Model ZBV 2519-EY) has onboard EMS support. This system comes with 640 conventional and 256k of EMS memory. This will cause SOFTSET to return an "Incompatible Board Type" message. To Get the Above Board or Matched Memory Classic to install correctly for expanded memory, it will be necessary to disable the onboard EMS support provided by the 12MHz Z248. To get to the Zenith Setup program, pres CTRL+ALT+ENTER. A Small arrow will appear on the top of the screen. Type SETUP and press enter. The Setup Menu will be displayed. Turn the EMS Memory Off. ZENITH SUPERSPORT 286 LAPTOP Current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic boards are INCOMPATIBLE with this system.
