Probably not compatible with the discontinued Above Board PC or PS/PC due to the fast bus speed). The ACER 710 is a dual speed XT compatible system (4.77 & 10MHz). This system allows up to 768K of conventional memory. Memory above 640K must be disabled to make room for an expanded memory page frame. Set switch #6 on motherboard switch block 3 to the OFF position to disable memory from 640K to 768K. ALEX TELECOMPUTER *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. This system is an XT compatible and is reportedly made by Compaq. ALPHA NUMERICS PC CLONE *CUSTOMER REPORT* of LIMITED COMPATIBILITY with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Alpha Numerics PC clone can run at 4.77 or 8MHz and fails at the 8MHz speed with an Above Board. An Above Board worked fine at the 4.77MHz speed. A Quadram board wouldn't even work at the 4.77MHz speed! The system has an Excel motherboard. Symptoms include TESTAB showing all chips bad, and when the customer tried to load SK+, a message would come up saying some of the pages are bad in expanded memory. ALR TURBO *CUSTOMER REPORT* of compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. This is an XT-Compatible computer. Tech Notes: We have customer reports of compatibility with Above Board PC and PS/PC at both 4.77MHz and 8MHz system speeds. We are not sure if the 8MHz speed affects the data bus or not, it doesn't appear to. This computer is switchable from 4.77MHz to 8MHz with a hardware switch. The system board holds up to 768K and can be set for 640K or 768K. Fill the system board memory to 640K before using an Above Board or Matched Memory Classic board. ALR's BBS phone number is ph: 714-458-6834 (4/27/90) AMDEK SYSTEM 88 *CUSTOMER REPORT* The Amdek System 88 is INCOMPATIBLE with Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. This computer has an 8088 back-plane card and 16 bit slots. Two different Above Boards would not work in this system. The EMM.SYS driver gave an error saying that there was no expanded memory to manage and TESTAB showed all chips bad. AMERICAN COMPUTER & PERIPHERAL *CUSTOMER REPORT* of LIMITED COMPATIBILITY with Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. One customer reported that they could not do warm boots with the EMM.SYS driver installed in this XT-Compatible computer. The Above Board functioned properly otherwise. AT&T 6300 This 8086-based computer is compatible with current Above Boards and the Matched Memory Classic. The discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, PC, and PS/PC are also compatible. The AT&T 6300 runs an 8MHz data bus. Tech Notes: Generally, it is recommended to install an Above Board in an IBM-type 8-bit slot. If the system has 256K on the system board and the AT&T expansion board is being used to provide additional conventional memory, you will not be able to use an Above Board or Matched Memory Classic board to backfill conventional memory. If parity errors occur with an Above Board PC or PS/PC: Make sure the memory chips are on the approved chip list. If the chips are 200ns chips, try using 150ns chips. Try installing the Above Board PC or PS/PC in a different slot, (including one of the 6300's 16-bit slots.) AT&T 6300WGS *CUSTOMER REPORTS* that Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic are INCOMPATIBLE with AT&T's 6300WGS computers. COLUMBIA 1600 PC *CUSTOMER REPORTS* if compatibility with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Reports indicate that the Above Board 286, PS/286, PC, and PS/PC are also compatible. COMPAQ DESKPRO Compatible with Current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, PC and PS/PC. COMPAQ PORTABLE Compatible with Current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, PC and PS/PC. COMPAQ (PORTABLE) PLUS Compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, PC and PS/PC. COMPAQ TELECOMPAQ Compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory classic. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board 286, PS/286, PC and PS/PC. Tech Note: If running the TESTABPC that shipped with the Above Board PC, use override to manually choose D8000 for the page frame. Using automatic page frame selection will not work. CORONA PC Compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board PC and PS/PC. Some Corona machines install a screen driver at 512K. To disable this, (so an expansion board can fill conventional memory), change the MODE command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT to MONO. CORONA PC PORTABLE Compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Also compatible with the discontinued Above Board PC and PS/PC. Some Corona machines install a screen driver at 512K. To disable this, (so an expansion board can fill conventional memory), change the MODE command in the AUTOEXEC.BAT to mono. CORONA DOS 3.1 & CLOCK.SYS The Above Board PS/PC CLOCK.SYS driver will always return Msg. 101 on boot up. Corona DOS 3.1 apparently resets the clock chip on the Above Board PS/PC. Using debug to initialize the clock chip will not work because DOS undoes it when you boot. May want to try using MS-DOS or PC-DOS. Lower versions of Corona DOS potentially have the same problem but this is unknown at this time.
