Tech Notes: If you want to use an Intel classic bus memory board with IEMM386, ILIM386, or a 386 control program such as QEMM or 386MAX, you must configure the memory board for EXTENDED memory. You cannot use IEMM386, ILIM386, or EMM together. You will need to choose one or the other. For expanded memory, you must have EMM Ver. 3.5.or higher. Do not run SETUPAT, TESTAB, or INSTALL with IEMM386 or ILIM386 installed. If an Above Board AT is set up to use 64K chips to backfill conventional memory, then these chips must be replaced with 256K chips if the InBoard 386 is used to supply conventional memory from 256K- 640K. Leaving these chips in will cause EMM to return Msg. 7: Some of the memory is not working. INBOARD 386/PC Compatible with Current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic as well as the discontinued Above Board 286, PS 286, PC, & PS/PC: IF the Above Board or Matched Memory Classic is supplying ONLY EXPANDED memory, AND IF the InBoard 386/PC is NOT trying to supply any EXPANDED memory, (you can NOT have more then one expanded memory manager in any computer system at one time). Since the InBoard 386/PC supplies all of its own conventional memory, no memory board can supply conventional memory in a system with an InBoard PC. To get more EXTENDED memory in a system with an InBoard PC, you must use the InBoard PC Piggy Back Option. No memory board, (Above Board and Matched Memory Classic included), can provide EXTENDED memory in a computer that wasn't designed to accommodate extended memory on its data bus. GENERAL INFORMATION Some accelerator boards contain on board RAM, which must not conflict with RAM on other memory boards. Any memory boards with conventional memory that conflicts with memory on the accelerator board should be removed or have the conflicting memory disabled. Some turbo boards with coprocessor sockets require the motherboard coprocessor socket to be "plugged" with a dummy chip when a coprocessor is used on the turbo board. In 8088-based systems, may get error "unable to program eeprom" with accelerator board installed. Choices: 1. Send them the latest version of Above Board/Matched Memory Classic software with the new SETBOARD program. 2. Put the Intel board in another 8088 system to run SETBOARD, or... 3. Remove the accelerator board and replace 8088 to run SETBOARD. APPLIED REASONING'S PC ELEVATOR Tested by Intel and found to have limited compatibility with Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. The PC Elevator board holds 1Mb of RAM which emulates Expanded Memory. This RAM is incompatible with Intel expanded memory provided by an Above Board or Matched Memory Classic board. Applied Reasoning was at one time working on a device driver which would allow the board's memory to be used with Intel's EMS memory, but as of this date we have no information if they ever managed to get that to work. Requires an 80287-8 coprocessor. AST AST FLASHPAK Tested and confirmed compatible with current Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. When enabling the cache on the Flashpak, the user needs to be sure to NOT cache the region in reserved memory where EMM creates the 64K page frame. Switches 7-10 on switch block #2 allow the user to choose the "cached memory range" (pp A-5 to A-6 in the AST Flashpak manual.) AST HOTSHOT *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. The device driver KDD.SYS, (or FDD.SYS), for changing speeds will conflict with EMM.SYS. Try placing the KDD.SYS driver before EMM.SYS in the CONFIG.SYS. BREAKTHRU 286 TURBO (BY PCSG) *CUSTOMER REPORTS* of compatibility with Above Boards and Matched Memory Classic. Tech Notes: Math co-processor socket is jumpered for either 5MHz or 8MHz co-processor. Customers report it uses the same I/O port address as the Above Board PS/PC clock. Gives clock message 101. Send customers the ABCLOCK software. KAM & ASSOCIATES AT EXCELERATOR II Currently we have no information on Above Board compatibility with this accelerator.
