Certain, older versions of the 80386 CPU have a bug known as the "B1 Step Bug", they are often known as a "B1 step 386". These B1 step 386 chips are sometimes found in older model 386/16 or 386/20 machines. The beta-1 release of Chicago will suffer from seemingly random failures if it is run on a B1 step 386. Because of this, we are posting the B1TEST.EXE program to test your CPU and tell you if you are running on a B1 step 386. Please run this application from within Microsoft Windows. If it detects a B1 step 386 in a computer, you SHOULD NOT install Chicago on that machine. When you run B1TEST.EXE, it will return with one of the following messages: "You have a 486 (or higher)" "You have a 386" "You have a B1 step 386" Again, if you have a B1 step 386, you should not install Chicago. The program is in Library 1, Fixes and Updates, as B1TEST.zip.
