Thank You For Using Minimized Window View Minimized Window View is an iconized window viewer, which allows interaction with and control of the icons on your desktop. It in many ways resembles the Minimized Window Viewer which is part of OS/2. Functionality has been added to the Window's Minimized Window View which expands on the functionality presented in OS/2's version. This document contains four sections...Section 1 describes the installation and usage of Minimized Window View. Section Two describes some of the current limitations and known problems with Minimized Window View. Section Three enumerates the upcoming enhancements to the System and Section Four outlines the registration costs and procedures. Let's get started. Section 1 Installation: Your MWV.ZIP file should contain: MWV.EXE MWV.HLP MWV.INI VBRUN300.DLL CMDIALOG.VBX this README.TXT Installation of Minimized Window View is a simple task. Copy MWV.EXE and MWV.HLP to the directory out of which you wish to run the program. I suggest your windows directory (e.g. c:\windows or c:\win). Copy VBRUN300.DLL and CMDIALOG.VBX to your windows system directory if you don't already have them installed in your system directory. Finally, copy MWV.INI to the directory out of which windows is run. If for some reason the MWV.INI file gets deleted don't worry, it will recreate itself the next time the program is closed down. Using Minimized Window View: [Since this program is mainly a "power-user" program I will not reiterate the procedure by which a user creates a program item in a program group.] Once you have installed Minimized Window View on your system and created a program item for the program you are ready to begin. Simply double-click on the Minimized Window View icon to begin. Once the program is running it's all ready to go. For a comprehensive overview of the system please review the On-line Help provided with Minimized Window View. To do this simply press F1 upon maximization of the Minimized Window View or select Help...Help on Minimized Window View. Hints for Using Minimized Window View: 1) Place Minimized Window View in your start up...there is no "beg" screen so it won't affect the loading of Windows. 2) Close applications quickly with the delete key. Simply click on the application and press the delete key. It's the quickest way to close a running application that I know of. 3) Minimize all applications if you aren't using them, while Minimized Window View is running. This will provide the user with the greatest amount of icon control possible. 4) Place applications with moving icons and DOS prompts on the Desktop. Moving icons will not show correctly in Minimized Window View and DOS prompts occasionally have problems as well. 5) Use the Help on a Running Application function. This is the fastest way of gaining Help on a running application that I can think of. Simply click on the application once and then press F1. Now you can view the help without maximizing the application yourself. Section 2 Known Limitations: 1) You can only currently view 10 minimized applications at any given time. 2) You can only place fifteen applications permanently on the Desktop. 3) You cannot currently have Minimized Window View default to Minimize Applications to Viewer. 4) All applications for which Minimized Window View can not find an icon are shown with a question mark as the icon. Known Bugs: 1) DOS Prompts and some non-Windows applications which are minimized to the viewer only (i.e. they are not permanently placed on the Desktop) sometimes minimize themselves without warning. Fix: Place DOS Prompts and Non-Windows applications on the Desktop permanently. Section 3 Planned Future Enhancements: I have already begun to enhance the design and functionality of Minimized Window View.. here are the planned future Enhancements: 1) Unlimited (at least 100) minimized applications will be shown in the viewer in the next release. 2) Unlimited applications will be allowed to permanently be placed on the desktop. 3) Defaults will be able to be set for Minimize Applications to Desktop or Viewer. 4) The next release should use up less memory and less system resources. 5) Anything else which users request. Section 4 Registration Information This program is shareware , not freeware, and as such I am charging 10$ ( plus 1$ for shipping and handling) for the cost of registering the program. You are free to try out Minimized Window View for a period of 21 days (3 weeks). If after this time you decide to continue to use this software please register it. Why should I register?
