It is used with cc:Mail for Windows version 2.0, and has roughly the same features as the former wNotify program shipped with earlier versions of cc:Mail. Notifax is also capable of sorting out faxes received from standard e-mail messages. To have Notifax loaded at all times rather than cc:Mail saves memory, and time when no messages are received. 2. INSTALLATION To install Notifax, simply copy the file NOTIFAX.EXE from this floppy into the CCMAIL directory on your file server. Users can then run NOTIFAX at will, or they can add Notifax.exe to their start-up group, to have Notifax loaded whenever they start Windows. 3. CONFIGURATION The first time Notifax is being run, the Setup screen is automatically displayed. You may skip to step 2 below... To configure Notifax, follow this procedure: 1. Click once on the Notifax icon and select Setup. 2. Enter or modify your cc:Mail name and password. 3. Enter the drive and directory where the cc:Mail post-office to which you belong is located. 4. Select the rate (in minutes) at which Notifax should check your inbox for messages. 5. Select whether Notifax should warn you of incoming messages with a beep, by displaying a windows, or both. 6. Select whether you want to log in to cc:Mail automatically (without being prompted for a password). WARNING: If this option is used, security is lessened as any user can walk up to this machine and view messages received. 7. Click on OK. 4. USAGE When a new message arrives, the Notifax icon flashes, and beeps or displays a dialog box (depending on how Notifax was set up - see above). If Notifax was configured to display a dialog box, that dialog box shows you the number of faxes received, the number of standard e-mail messages received, and the number of urgent e-mail messages received. Clicking on cc:Mail loads cc:Mail, while clicking on OK returns Notifax to an icon without loading cc:Mail.
