Windows 3.0 Setup for Wildcat BBS I have been running Wildcat V2.15s under Windows 3.0 for about a month now quite successfully. I am running it on an IBM PS/2 Mod 55SX with 9Meg of Ram. There are two support files provided with this package: WILDCAT.PIF - This Windows PIF runs CAT.BAT in 386 Enhanced mode under Windows 3.0. I set it up to be exclusive in foreground mode. Generally your users will not notice any performance degradation if you are running another task with Wildcat in background. After all they are running at 2400 Baud or less. I also added a hot-key "ALT-C". This will allow you to go to Wildcat immediately after it is started in background. WCSYSOP.GRP - This is a program group for the Wildcat MAKEWILD, MAKEQUES, WCREPAIR, and ADDFILES utilities. You can add this program group by using the Windows PROGRAM MANAGER FILE option and select "NEW..." and then select "Program Group". On the next panel enter whatever title you choose and then enter C:\WILDCAT\WCSYSOP.GRP if you put it in the C:\WILDCAT directory. A couple of other configuration notes. You may want to change the PIF, if you want to reset priorities or whatever. You can do that with the Windows Accessory PIF EDITOR. If you want Wildcat to start and go to background everytime you start Windows, add this line to your WIN.INI file "run=c:\wildcat\wildcat.pif". If you are doing a lot of work with hi-speed modem , ie., greater than 4800 baud, you should change the setting of the "COM1Buffer=512" in the 386 Enhanced section, otherwise you will lose characters, I learned that from experience.
