October 14, 1994 FRAG CHECKER for Windows NT version 5.0 (Digital Alpha-AXP systems) by Acme Developers NTFS fragmentation Checker. With this utility you can measure the degree of file fragmentation in NTFS partitions, and see if file fragmentation could be creating a drain on NT performance. This utility is not intended to remedy an existing condition. It is for informational purposes only. This utility requires Windows NT version 3.5 running on an Alpha CPU. This utility will not run on NT version 3.1. It will not run on Intel or MIP CPUs. Notes: When asked for the drive letter to be checked a colon must be typed after the drive letter , or the utility will not function. In some cases excessive file fragmentation will cause this utility to cease to run. In which case you can partially defragment the partition by backing up the files, re-formatting the disk and restoring the files to the newly re-formatted disk. This is currently the only method available for defragmenting NTFS partitions. Afterward the utility can be successfully run on that partition. This is freeware; copy and distribute freely.
