WiPPPer v2.25 Copyright (c) 1997 Circular Logic all rights reserved The OLR for Web Forums and Web-based Communities If you have any trouble installing or using WiPPPer, please stop by our support forums at http://www.circularlogic.com, or else send email to support@circularlogic.com First-Time Installation: When installing WiPPPer, you will be prompted for some account settings. These settings are normally the userid and password you use to access your email. Be sure to add your "real name", as that is used when posting Web Forum messages. You will then be prompted for your explicit email address and your ISP's POP, SMTP, and News server addresseses. If you don't know what they are, you can change it later. The only item needed to post Web Forum messages is the email address. Communications: WiPPPer is completely winsock-compatible, and uses the same communications dialer as your other Internet software. If you are using Win95 and a 32-bin dialer, be sure you have downloaded and installed the Win95 version of WiPPPer. SLIP/PPP Settings: If you want WiPPPer to send and receive email or usenet, then the SLIP/PPP settings must be correct. Otherwise, they can be ignored --- Web Forum access does not depend on those addresses. Web Forums: First time users may want to use the "FORUM SITES" option on the UTILTIES menu to easily install a few forums to get started. You might want to install the WiPPPer Support Forum too, to keep up-to-date with recent changes. Most of the Web Forums on the FORUM SITES list are WWWBoards, which is the default currently used in WiPPPer. If you wish to access a Web Forum that is not a WWWBoard, you need to find out what type of forum software they are running. Send email to the forum administrator if you can not see what type of forum it is when you access it through your Web Browser. WiPPPer v2.25 currently automates the following Web Forums WWWBoard HyperNews HyperMail NetForum Proxima and Podium PathFinder (Time-Warner) WebBoard (O'Reilly) Motet More will be added in future upgrades. There are currently over 60 different types of Web Forums, so there's still a long way to go before WiPPPer is close to being "universal" in what it can do. Registration: This is not a free product, nor is it public domain. If you like it and use it, please REGISTER. To register by email, just pull down the Registration menu and fill out the form. Then do an automated session (make sure your Email Preferences are turned on). Users have the choice of registering the current version for $39, or opting for an "Extended Registration" for $79, which includes continuous free upgrades and support.
