Cruiser Browser v.1.34 --------------------- Absolutely the EASIEST disk browser/launcher/copier! JUST ONE CLICK TO REACH OR COPY ANY FILE ! A dockable & sizable win95-START-like popup menu-button which browses through your file system with cascading folders, resolving links, opening documents, windows, DOS sessions, copying/moving files without My Computer or Windows Explorer. Aren't you sick of double-clicking on tons of folders to open them just to realize that you have to search elsewhere and close them all ? I made Cruiser right for that. It uses as least memory as possible, it doesn't waste resources. You won't need to use My Computer or Windows Explorer any more! Just find the folder you need with Cruiser, and press the right mouse button! Drag files or folders on Cruiser and select the directory in which you want to copy/move/link, or just browse them, or select "Open with" to find a program which will open your files. Changes since 1.33: Fixed a bug in the recent data dealing. Changes in installation procedure. WHAT'S NEW since 1.31 "Open with" added to drag & drop menu. Added network and ram drives support, with letters ranging from "A" to "Z". When opening drives, it now shows both the drive label and the drive letter. Added caching of root directory: speeds up reopening of root popup ! If you drag a file on Cruiser to move/copy it, you can start browsing from its source directory in the "recent data" folder, to make easier browsing from relative paths. Minor bug fixes. WHAT'S NEW since 1.12 New look. New docking capabilities (not constrained to corners). Hilights of selected file in opened folders. Drag & drop to copy/move/link/browse multiple files/folders. Explorer view can be made the default view (without SHIFT). Bug fixes and more... (C) Copyright 1997. Max Sebastiani. You can use the same registration code, if you have one. Otherwise the evaluation period will be restarted. Unzip Crusrxxx.zip into an empty directory. Right click on Cruiser.inf, choose install, ignore the warning, click "browse" and find the directory in which you have unzipped the files: the file "cruiser.exe" should appear, click OK, and that's all! Cruiser will auto-start next time you launch Windows95, in the meanwhile you can run it from the Start-menu, in the group named "Cruiser Browser". If it shouldn't appear in the start-menu please restart Windows95. If something goes wrong, or If you want to put Cruiser in a directory different from "Program Files", you can install it manually: MANUAL INSTALLATION Put Cruiser and all its files into an empty directory and create a link to Cruiser.exe in the "startup" folder of your start menu. Create a group named "Cruiser Browser", with a link to "Cruiser.exe" and one to "register.exe". That's all! No dlls needed! NO INSTALLATION You can launch Cruiser directly without installation, if you want to try it once, but it won't be very useful if not autostarted. ------------------------------------------------------------------ UN-INSTALLATION If Cruiser is running, exit (from options menu). From Control Panel, Install application, choose "Cruiser Uninstall". If you installed Cruiser manually, simply delete the folder and the link(s) you created in the start menu. ------------------------------------------------------------------ INSTRUCTIONS - Click on the button with the small arrow to start browsing disks. - Drag multiple folders/files on CRUISER to copy/move/link them, selecting the action first ("Copy to, Move to, Create a shortcut in") and then the destination directory with a right click . - Drop a file on Cruiser, and select under "open with" the application that will open your file. (Hint : add 'Windows\start menu' to your root list, in order to find installed applications quickly) - Drag multiple folders on CRUISER to browse them, directly from the top items, if you don't choose an action. - RIGHT CLICK on Cruiser to set options, disable "show icons" if you need a faster behavior. - Choose "Save preferences" from option menu to record the window position and your menu option for next launch. while browsing : - LEFT CLICK to open selected document or launch an application - RIGHT CLICK to open a desktop window of the selected directory (if you are selecting a directory) or the parent directory of the selected file (if you are selecting a file, which will be highlighted). - SHIFT+RIGHT CLICK to open an explorer view of the selected directory (you can toggle this SHIFT-behaviour by selecting "Explorer view as default" from option menu), same as above if you are selecting a file - CTRL+RIGHT CLICK to open a DOS session in the selected directory. - Broken or unresolvable links in a directory which Cruiser is opening could slow the browsing process: it's advisable to fix them. CUSTOMIZATION You can select "Add xxx\yyy\zzz to root list", from options menu, to append the folder xxx\yyy\zzz you have just opened to the root list of browsable drives (for example, I have added the "programs" menu of Win95, the Desktop folder and my preferred internet shortcuts). You can then edit & organize the names or delete entries of the list by selecting 'Organize root list' from the options menu, and then editing the contents of the folder, which keeps the shortcuts to your preferred directories. Select 'Reload root disk' when you have finished, to reload your preferred directories. You can select the disks to hide from the options menu, under "Hide these Disks" if you don't want to display some disks in the root popup menu. I usually keep "Sort by Extensions" checked to facilitate visual grouping of files in big directories. ------------------------------------------------------------------ REGISTRATION SHAREWARE 13$ - free use for 100-Windows-sessions evaluation period, after which you have to register. Use the "register.exe" program (found in the "Cruiser Browser" group, if you installed Cruiser correctly) distributed with Cruiser to send your money. You can choose many payment methods: credit card, checks, cash, etc.; send any payment to Kagi Sales, which collect them for me, following the instructions in the "register" program; please include a valid email address where we can send the "Registration Code" to you, in a few days, which enables the use of Cruiser forever. If you don't, we will send the "Registration Code" to you by snail-mail, but it could take many weeks. VERY IMPORTANT: You MUST include the "Access Code" that you obtain from Cruiser running the program, right-clicking on it and selecting "register" from the popup menu: you can cut and paste the code into the "Register keyword Entry" window of register.exe. There is only one Registration Code for every Access code, so if you forget to put this information you won't receive the registration code which unlocks the use of Cruiser forever. ------------------------------------------------------------------- CONTACT INFORMATION Cruiser Browser Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/Eureka/4291/Cruiser.html If you are having difficulty in installing or using the software please feel free to contact us in: email: seba@kagi.com or Max Sebastiani, via Dallafior 24 38050 POVO (TN) ITALY -------------------------------------------------------------------- DISTRIBUTION You may freely distribute Cruiser among friends, or even send the program on to internet forums, bbs, magazines, etc., but only in the same form as which you got it in.
