CISOP (TM) is a set of special communications scripts to be run with Crosstalk Mk.4. As an automatic navigator and processor of CompuServe's principal public areas, it can perform all of the following for up to 60 services that you've selected and installed: CompuServe Mail - Post and Read messages in all of the available formats and for all of the available routings: text messages, binary downloads and uploads, FAX, Postal delivery, MCI Mail, Internet, multiple distribution, etc. Forums - Post and Read messages; capture library file descriptions in both short (OneLine) and long (Full) formats; download and upload files; participate in conferences. File Finders - Search for and capture file descriptions based on single or multiple search criteria (all search criteria recognized by CompuServe -- file name, UserID of originator, keywords, age, etc. -- can be used); file download requests can be issued directly while viewing captured descriptions. Upgrade Services - Access and work with special libraries maintained by manufacturers for users of their products. Other Areas - CISOP can be set up to process any public CompuServe area, such as the Executive News Service (ENS). CISOP will help you reduce your telephone and on-line charges by letting you do most of your CompuServe-related work off-line. What's more, you won't have to learn a single CompuServe command -- or even navigate CompuServe's menus! Instead you'll work with informative, user-friendly interfacing and a context-sensitive Help system. If you're new to CompuServe, CISOP will even enroll you automatically in the forums you select. When you're ready to explore CompuServe on your own, CISOP will let you switch at any time to manual terminal operation and back to automated operation, all without logging you off the system unless you request otherwise. If you're an experienced CompuServe user who's spent time and effort getting your on-line terminal settings and individual service options configured just right, you'll be glad to know that CISOP will make no permanent changes in these settings anywhere in the system. CISOP is designed to facilitate unattended processing. It incorporates a number of safeguards to ensure that your system won't be left "hanging" on-line, running up phone and connect charges, if something unexpected occurs in your absence. If you're upgrading from CISDL (CISOP's predecessor), you'll find that CISOP has a similar "look and feel" but incorporates a host of new functions as well as an improved user interface and a much more complete Help system. CISOP runs with Crosstalk Mk.4 V1.01 or later. The scripts and Help file require about 750KB of disk storage space. Additional storage space will be needed for message, library, index and configuration files. CISOP has been tested with a variety of hardware and software configurations, including some of the popular multitasking environments. If you can run Crosstalk Mk.4 normally, you should have no problem running CISOP so long as you have enough memory. A full complement (640KB) of conventional RAM memory is recommended, but you may be able to get by with 512KB. The complete CISOP package consists of three compressed (.ZIP) files, all of which must be downloaded from Library 6 (Crosstalk Mk.4/Add) of the Crosstalk forum (GO XTALK): CISOP.ZIP - Scripts and auxiliary files; CISDOC.ZIP - Documentation file; CISHLP.ZIP - Context-sensitive Help file. If you're switching to CISOP from ATO, TAPCIS, or CISDL, or if you want to import into CISOP the summary files of OneLine descriptions uploaded periodically by the IBMNET forums, also download CISCNV.ZIP from the same location; it contains the necessary conversion scripts. CISOP is the author's trademark and is a copyrighted shareware product, although no fee is charged for its use. Crosstalk Mk.4 (TM) is a communications software package from Digital Communications Associates (DCA), Inc. If you have any questions about CISOP or would like additional information, please leave a message in Section 4 (Crosstalk Mk.4) of the XTALK forum. Dean R. Ammons CompuServe 73200,2513
