                            Creating an UPDATE diskette: 
                            ---------------------------- 

          For those of you that do not read manuals here are the quick 
          instructions for creating an UPDATE disk. 

          1.   Format a blank 3.5 or 5.25 inch diskette. 

          2.   Copy the UPDATE.EXE program and optionally the UPDATE.HLP
               file(s) to the newly formatted diskette, and label it as the
               "UPDATE Anti-Virus" diskette. 

          3.   Copy the various McAfee programs that you wish to install,
               to the update diskette that you've created in step 2. 


                      Running the UPDATE program interactively 
                      ---------------------------------------- 

          1.   Run the UPDATE program, go to the SETUP menu and select the
               files you wish to install and the options you wish to
               change. 

          2.   Select the "UPDATE" option to perform the actual update. 


                        Running UPDATE from the command-line 
                        ------------------------------------ 

          1.   To see a list of the available command-line options run
               UPDATE with the command [?] such as: 

               A:\>UPDATE ? 

          2.   Select the commands that you wish to activate and rerun
               UPDATE and include the appropriate commands.

          Shareware versions of UPDATE may be freely distributed, subject
          to the following restrictions: 

          *    UPDATE must be distributed without modification, in its
               entirety. 

          *    UPDATE may not be distributed by any for-profit entity which
               fails to disclose the following points somewhere in their
               literature: 

               o    The fee paid by the customer for an evaluation diskette
                    is a distribution fee, and does not cover the cost of
                    the program itself. 
                
               o    Additional payment to the Author is required if a
                    program is used beyond the evaluation period prescribed

          If you have received a diskette which contains the files
          UPDATE.EXE, UPDATE.HLP, UPDATE.MAN, UPDATE.HIS, LICENSE.TXT and
          README.TXT please compress these into a single file named
          UPAV-210.ZIP (i.e. where 210 denotes version number 2.10).


          Suggested "UPDATE" caption: 

          McAfee anti-virus installation program v2.10
          adds selectable drive searching.  It also
          adds more technical information in the ABOUT
          box and adds some new command-line switches
          and menu options to allow for "intelligent"
          updating of the selected files.
