This demonstration version of Window-Eyes contains all the
features of the actual production version. However, after 30
minutes, Window-Eyes will give a message every 15 seconds. Your
machine will not lock up, but after 35 minutes Window-Eyes will
no longer read information as it did. If you remove Window-Eyes
from memory, you will have to leave Windows and restart it in
order to rerun Window-Eyes.

Things you should know about Window-Eyes 1.0 as of October 17,
1995:

Hyperactive Windows

The hyperactive windows do not work exactly as described in the
Window-Eyes manual. If a new set file loads and the condition of
a hyperactive window is true, the window will not trigger. If
the condition becomes true after the set file is loaded, however,
the window triggers as it should.

If a hyperactive window loads a new set file, results are
unpredictable.

Voice Settings

When adjusting settings in the Window-Eyes Voice Control Panel or
saving the settings from the file menu of the Voice Control
Panel, the rate of the voice may change. Leaving and reentering
the Voice Control Panel usually puts the rate back to the desired
level.

Specific Applications

In WordPerfect 6.0 and 6.1, buttons which resemble combo boxes do
not speak the button name

Some dialog options within Microsoft Office do not speak.

AMI Pro is not compatible for the time being.

Hardware:

In order for mouse movement hot keys to work correctly, a mouse
must physically be attached to your computer.

Some color schemes do not work fully. Windows Default, The
Blues, and Hot Dog Stand seem to work particularly well.

Miscellaneous

When read-to-end is aborted with ESCAPE, sometimes the ENTER key
stops working for a bit.

The any window hot key does not read the selected window.

The read temporary window hot key does not read.

If you launch a DOS box and then launch Window-Eyes, you must
exit from the DOS box before exiting Windows. If the DOS box is
launched after Window-Eyes, everything works as it should.

Word mode is extremely sluggish.

Turning off the screen voice turns off most speech. It should
only silence speak windows.

Microsoft Word may be somewhat sluggish on slower machines.

We are working to correct the above problems and hope to have a
new release soon. If you have a modem, you might like to
download the corrections from our BBS for faster service.
