Notes on Win95 and Windows NT Network Products Corporation will be releasing an update to the NMP2 designed to support Windows 95 and Windows NT. At the present time the product offers limited support for those operating systems. Windows 95 Windows 95 users should follow the instructions for Windows for Workgroups. The NMP2 and/or NCSI should be installed via WINSTART.BAT to support 16 bit Windows applications, or in a DOS session to support DOS applications. 32 Windows applications are not supported at the present time. The NetBIOS version of NCSI 1.22.02 will not support loading under both WINSTART.BAT and a Windows DOS session. The IPX version of NCSI can be run in multiple WOWs and/or DOS sessions by loading it with the -D option in addition to the -W option. Windows NT Windows NT users should load NCSI via the AUTOEXEC.NT file or in a DOS session, as described in the text file on Windows and NCSI. Only 16 bit Windows applications or DOS applications are supported. The NetBIOS version of NCSI 1.22.02 can only be run in the default WOW or a single DOS session. To insure that a 16 bit Windows application runs in the default WOW, be sure that it is not set up to run in its own memory space. The IPX version of NCSI can be run in multiple WOWs and/or DOS sessions by loading it with the -D option in addition to the -W option. This release of the NMP2 server should not be run under NT.
