Capture Facility For LT 6 Under Windows 95 If you have been able to get drive mappings working but not printing under W95, this program may help. If you can successfully print in a DOS Window by copying to a redirected printer port, you may be in luck. This utility captures printer output sent to a file and resends it to a printer port under DOS. All you have to do is set up W95 to print to a file. You have two choices in this regard: 1. You can print to FILE: and be prompted for an output file name every time 2. You can create a new port with "Add Port..." on the printer settings menu. Do not choose a Network printer, rather ask for a local port, and then give a path name to a spool file. THE NAME MUST END IN .PRN With this method, W95 won't prompt you for a file name every time. Run the Capture program and select the directory where you have directed the spool file. You must also tell Capture where to send the output ( LPT1 - 3 ) Click on start and try printing something. The Capture program checks the directory every 2000 miliseconds ( 2 seconds ) by default. You can change this in the refresh rate box. By making the refresh rate 2 seconds, I don't think this will load down your system too heavily. When installing the program, make sure the "Printit.bat" file is in your PATH. You will need to copy the VBRUN300.DLL file to your Windows/System directory if you don't already have one. To run the program automatically, place it in your Startup folder. If you give it a command line argument representing your spool directory, it will start automatically. If it helps, great. Remember, this was written to handle some of our own problems here. It may be flaky, half an hour of testing isn't exhaustive. In our case, it is working fine. If you have comments or questions, E-Mail me at 71045,3720@compuserve.com and I'll try to help you out.
