Overview I-View is a small full feature off-line HTML browser. Designed especially for HTML authors, Internet & CD-ROM publishers, I-View is very small in size (about 400K). You can distribute I-View with your HTML files using just a single floppy. I-View displays hypertext documents and in-line images. It will also load your choice of associated program to play sound and movie clips, or display separate images. I-View supports image maps. A WYSIWYG Print Preview shows any page exactly as it will print on your printer. File Menu Open: Opens a dialog box where you can select a file on the local disk for display. Reload: Reload the current file for display. Setup Homepage: Here you can specify the name of the file you would like I-View to display on startup. Setup Hotlist: Specify the Hotlist you wish to use. It is more convenient to maintain several Hotlists for different subjects. Edit HTML File: Load the associated editor to edit the currently displayed HTML File. Edit Configuration File: Edit the file i-view.ini where, for example, you can specify associated viewer programs. Edit Hot List File: Edit the current Hot List, which is in the format [URL] [Displayed Name of Document] Save As HTML: Save the current file in HTML format. Save as ASCII: Save the current file in ASCII text format. Print: Print the currently displayed file Print Preview: Display the current file in a WYSIWYG format. You can zoom in for a view of individual pages. Print Setup: Setup your printer from the dialog box. If you have a printer you have probably done this already. Exit: Ends your I-View session. Options Menu Toolbar: Show or hide the Toolbar. Status Bar: Show or hide the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen. Font: Select the fonts to use for various parts of a document. Save Settings on Exit: Enable or disable the Save Settings on Exit feature. Navigate Menu Homepage: Load and display the Home Page. Previous: Load and redisplay the last page that was displayed. Next: Load and redisplay the next page (if any). Hot List: Opens the current Hot list from which you can pick the name of a document to display, Help Menu Help: Loads and displays I-View help file. About I-VIEW: Displays the Version Number of I-View. FAQ 1. How do I setup my external viewer programs for GIF, MOV, etc ? a. Edit your autoexec.bat file, add the external viewer in your DOS search path. b. Enable the "Options --> Save Settings On Exit" feature. c. Selecting the "File --> Edit Configure File" menu allows you to use Windows Notepad to change the I-View configuration file. In the first section of the configuration file, add: .jpg lview.exe if you want to use lview program to view JPG files. 2. Can I edit the current HTML file in I-View ? Yes. Select the "File --> Edit HTML Source" menu, and I-View will load Windows Notepad to edit the current HTML file. After editing, you can click on the "Reload" button to see what it looks like. 3. How do I setup my own home page ? Select the "File --> Setup Homepage" menu. In the file dialog, select the HTML file you want to use as your home page. 4. How do I save a HTML page to disk WITH IMAGES in I-View ? Use the "File --> Save As HTML" menu, it is as easy as saving a file. 5. How do I save a HTML page as a plain text file in I-View ? Use the "File --> Save As ASCII" menu. 6. Can I have more than one hot list file in I-View ? Yes. You can have an unlimited number of hot list files in I-View. Use the "File --> Setup Hot List File" menu to select the hot list file you want to use. It is a good idea to have different hot list files for information belonging to different categories. 7. How do I edit the current hot list file ? Use the "File --> Edit Hot List File" menu. I-View will load Windows Notepad to edit the current hot list file.
