AT MERV GRIFFIN'S RESORTS CASINO HOTEL


Atlantic City, NJ --- A bit of California comes to Atlantic City with the
recent opening of California Pizza Kitchen at Merv Griffin's Resorts Casino
Hotel.

The 8,220 square-foot restaurant, seating 175 inside and 48 in the lounge, is
California Pizza Kitchen's 75th location and it's first in Atlantic City. It
is the second franchise agreement for CPK, the first in Las Vegas at the
Mirage and Golden Nugget Hotels.

"With its creative menu, terrific service, delicious food and reasonable
prices, California Pizza Kitchens will be a tremendous addition to our food
serice lineup," Griffin said.

CPK is renowned for its unusual pizza topping combinations, such as
Barbecued Chicken, Thai Chicken and Peking Duck. They also offer fresh salads,
delicious pastas, incredible desserts and a CPKids menu. All items are
available for take-out.

and co-chairman pf CPK, Inc. "Merv Griffin stands for entertainment and we
are pleased that he sees us as a star performer in his hotel and as a draw 
to both people visiting and living in the Atlantic City area. We envision
creating the same excitement we have created in Las Vegas and we're sure
we'll be an instant hit with the hotel guests and customers," he added.

California Pizza Kitchen, marking its 10th anniversary this year, is
recognized as having re-invented pizza with it's 27 varieties of "wood-fired"
pizzas as well as being the first national chain to institute a no-smoking
policy more than four years ago.

The restaurant's success is credited to a creative and appealing repertoire
of pizzas. The company recently attained national notoriety when co-founders
Larry Flax and Rick Rosenfield were selected to be featured in the "Dine-Out
America" television and print campaign sponsored by American Express.

CPK had sales of $125 million in 1994 and predicts sales of $170 million
this year. In May of 1992, PepsiCo, Inc. purchased a substantial equity
interest in the company.

Located on the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk, Merv Griffin's Resorts
