Disc-Organize 1.0 Fake File Defragmentation Utility/ Screen Saver for Windows 3.1 by Stewart A. Kautsch System Requirements: 386 or better Windows 3.1 2 Mg RAM VGA or SVGA 500K disk space Make your computer look busy while you're taking that much deserved coffee break! Used as a screen saver or free-standing program, Disc-Organize will appear to be defragging your disk while actually just shuffling around different colored squares. Its password protection scheme will identify it as a disk utility so as not to give you away. Best of all, it makes no real progress toward its "goal", so you can leave it running as long as you like and know that it will still appear to be doing something important when you return. To use Disc-Organize as a screen saver, copy the file "FDFRG.SCR" to your Windows directory and choose it as your working screen saver via Control Panels/Desktop or other screen saver choice utility. Its configuration options include the usual password protection as well as the following cosmetic choices: 1) Drive Letter: You can type in anything in this box, but only the first character (followed by a colon) will be displayed as the ID of the drive being "defragged". If you're at work, I recommend a letter of the alphabet! 2) Size of disk: simply changes the "clusters per cell", which is included for realism (the calculation is real, however). Anything will be accepted but minimum size of 80Mg and maximum of 2000Mg are enforced by the software. 3) Percentage of disk full: This changes the number of cells painted as "used" on the grid. Type in anything, but a range of 10-90 is enforced. (For instance, you may want to change this when you change the drive letter for the sake of realism.) You can use Disc-Organize as a standalone program by copying it to "FDFRG.EXE". To configure it, you'll have to use the command line "FDFRG.EXE /c" ("c" for "configure"). This software is supplied "AS IS". There is no warranty expressed or implied, including warranty of merchantability and warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. Stewart A.
