PINE VALLEY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Design by Dan Raftery 12 May 1992 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thank you G. Rodriguez III, C. Nillson, Mark Willett, Ted Maiden, Lee Ritz, Scott Chesney, and Ken Smith, for the use of your backgrounds and objects where applicable. To let JNSE fans know, I think the work these guys put into their object and background design is unmatched, and being the worst object and background designer myself, I use their work on all my courses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pine Valley was designed by George Crump and is located in Clementon, New Jersey. Known as the "184 Acre Bunker", Pine Valley comes under constant critisism because of Crump's use of sand. Many golfer's, including the PGA Tour professionals, feel that Pine Valley is too tough to play on, therefore the course has been seldom used for any PGA event. This recreation of Pine Valley is as close as you can come to the JN Signature Edition version of the course. To create the course exactly as is would make it mighty impossible to play on, therfore I have toned down some of the land features to insure that a ball in play will be kept in play after fairway roll, and that you will, or should have, a fairly good chance of recovery out of the sand, should you land there. I WILL NOT guarantee par out of a sand recovery, but you will definately get the feeling of frustration that many golfers feel when playing the real course. Green slope has been altered a bit as a putt on a 10 foot slope, uphill or downhill, is tough in JNSE. Maybe I should say impossible. Keep in mind that a course created with JNSE should be contoured to the game and NOT to actual play of the course. If an SE architect tried to recreate all conditions exactly as a real course plays, it may prove impossible for one to play it with SE. A perfect example would be, take the Desert Highlands course in the JN Unlimited version and hit into one of the sand transition areas. Some are so deep that your chance for a score of 18 is not unlikely. Again, I have done my best in this recreation and it will definately play more difficult than any of my other courses.
