OS/2 Filter Designer Information file _____________________________________ Title : Filter Designer for OS/2, Version 1.1 Author: (c) 1995, Mr Antonino Iannella Date : September 27, 1995 CONTENTS ________ Description Included files Installation Limitations License agreement Acknowledgments Version Information FILE_ID.DIZ Author contact details --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- Description ___________ This application is a filter designer for OS/2 2.1. The user chooses what filter response they want for their filter (lowpass or highpass), what filter approximation they would like (Butterworth or Chebyshev), and what corner frequency they would like. Pressing the 'Evaluate' button gives the component values necessary for the circuit. The filter is fourth-order, made of two second-order filters in series. These filters are in Sallen-and-Key configuration and have unity gain. For more details, see the accompanying MS Word 6 document LCA1.DOC. If anyone finds a bug, I WANT to know about it, quick smart. I sincerely hope that somebody finds this filter designer useful! --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- Included files ______________ Fildes1.exe The PM executable Fildes1.res The resource file (source code for whoever may want to play with it) Fildes1.ico Icon files Lca1.doc MS Word 6 report for Linear Circuits 2 Readme.txt This file, silly! File_id.diz Convenience file for lazy sysops --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- Installation ____________ Copy the archive to any directory, decompress it, and run the executable FILDES1.EXE. The information files can be safely deleted (but not when distributing; see License agreement section). --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- Limitations ___________ The design is the greatest limitation. See LCA1.DOC. It will not work in Windows 95. This is not a bug in my software; Windows 95 IS the bug. (A big fat one too!) --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- License agreement _________________ Mr Bill Gates is rich, so he can afford to pay me US $1,000,000.00 . However, Microsoft employees and their families can pay US $999,999.99. The rest of the cosmos can use Filter Designer for FREE! I relinquish it into the Public Domain. All associated text files must be distributed with the executable file. However, I do not guarantee the software's reliability. Any damage or loss incurred as a result of this software is NOT the author's responsibility! For registration purposes, ; I would really appreciate a postcard of your home city. Or else, send me an Email to the address at the bottom (if you are lazy... :-) ). Include your name and contact details, for future upgrades. --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- Acknowledgments _______________ I used Dr Dialog, which is a PM application creation tool using REXX. I must commend David Morrill for an excellent job with Dr Dialog. I personally think it is better than Visual BaSick :-), VisPro and VX REXX. It's more intuitive. Also, it's free (almost). I actually understood all the documentation! I built most of this application in one day - including having to learn how to use Dr Dialog and REXX. Wow. --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- Version Information ___________________ v1.0 - The first release! v1.1 - Some minor improvements to make it work a little better. A couple of corrections were made to the document. --------- OS/2 : Start multitasking - properly! ---------- FILE_ID.DIZ ___________ (v1.1) FilDes - PM Filter designer An OS/2 PM utility. Simple designer for a fourth-order filter. Allows lowpass, and highpass configurations using Butterworth or Chebyshev approximations. Features a Word 6 document of my assignment as well as a sexy icon. Freeware (unless you are Bill Gates).
