QuickStar Find a Modem Utility Program Version 1.0 (C) Copyright 1995-1996 Anthony Mai. All rights reserved QFMODEM is a small MS-DOS program that automatically detects any modem presented on a PC computer. It will find out the COM port, IRQ number, Base address of the modem. It will find out whether the modem is a DATA modem and/or a FAX modem. It will also detect whether the fax/modem is a Class 1, Class 2, or Class 2.0 fax/modem. Usage of QFMODEM is very easy. All you need to do is type "qfmodem" at the DOS prompt. The executable of QFMODEM is a freeware. Feel free to use it, upload it to BBS's and networks, or pass it to any one why may be interested in it. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the C and Assembly source code of this program, please send $20 US dollars (foreign cash is OK) to: Mr. Anthony Mai Box #149, 104 Davey Lab Pennsylvania State University University Park, PA 16803 USA Tel: 1-(814)-867-1468 E-Mail: mai@phys.psu.edu CompuServe: 102773.370@compuserve.com The author has a small and handy FAX shareware program called QFAX. It is very easy to use and send fax much faster than WinFax and most commercial fax softwares. QFAX can be used alone or can be embedded into other programs. Basically it is a command line fax sender. QFAX is available in CompuServe: go ibmnet, select "Communications Forum" select "Files (libraries)", select "FAX", and look for file QFAXV###.ZIP. QFAX is also available via anonymous FTP: ftp.coast.net:/SimTel/msdos/modem/qfaxv102.zip garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/comm/qfaxv102.zip Like other shareware authors, I am always excited by challenges and new opportunities. If you have any thing or any idea for me, feel free to let me know it.
