ARLX063 CW practice for Alaskans

A new code practice station is on the air from Alaska.  Sponsored by
the South Central Radio Club, of Anchorage, and signing KL7CC, the
station is on daily on 80 and 2 meters.

Each session runs about 40 minutes, daily, at 7 AM, 10 AM, 4 PM, 7
PM, and 10 PM, Alaska time, on 3.575 and 145.35 MHz. (Alaska is 8
hours behind UTC until October 29, then 9 hours behind).  About 10
minutes of text are sent at 22, 15, and 7 wpm.  The slower two
speeds are sent by the Farnsworth method; 22 wpm is non-Farnsworth
(W1AW uses Farnsworth up to 15 wpm, and non-Farnsworth at 18 wpm and
higher speeds).

The club is currently using the home station of Jim Wiley, KL7CC,
running about 100 watts on both 80 and 2 meters.  Sometime in the
future, power on 80 meters will be increased to 400 watts output,
and the station eventually will be installed at the club's facility,
and will then sign WL7CLY.  The Quarter Century Wireless Association
donated 300 dollar(s) to the project, according to Wiley.

Text for the station is primarily from the pages of QST, and is
being provided by ARRL staff from text files used for the same
purpose at W1AW.
