MAZE RACE by Jeff Brophy This game generates random mazes, in which your vehicle is lost. Your job is simply to find your way out of the maze. Due to limitations in the Klick'n'Play system, the maze size is rather limited, and so fairly easy to find the exit. To make the mazes more challenging, there are several options: DARKNESS Normally, the entire maze would be visible, but if you want more of a challenge, you can have a percentage of the maze area "blacked out" so that you can't see where the walls are until you get there. This can make the game more difficult, especially if you've got creatures after you. CREATURES You can also add up to 2 creatures to the maze. The creatures always start at the exit to the maze and wander around the corridors. There are several creature options as well. SPEED The creatures can be FAST or SLOW. Obviously, slow monsters are easier to avoid than fast ones. TYPE OF CREATURES The KILL and STUN options select the types of creatures that will be after you. The KILL option will add maniacal auto-butcher robots into the maze that would like nothing better than to hack you to pieces. The STUN option places mutant weather formations into the maze that will cause your vehicle to spin out of control for a short period of time. Of course, if your opponent is not out of control, he can use this time to win the game. If both players are destroyed by the auto-butchers, you get to race again in a new maze and neither player scores a point. In 2 player mode, there is also an option to LOCK the exit. If this option is selected, the auto-butchers are placed into the maze, just as with the KILL option - but the exit will be locked until at least one of the players has died. Therefore you can't exit until your opponent is killed. This makes for a much more challenging game. TELEPORTATION If you're playing a level that contains any auto-butchers, you can use a one-shot teleportation device. This device is experimental, so use it with care. It will teleport your vehicle to a random location within the maze. This may take you to safety from the auto-butchers, or may drop you right in their path. Also, the device burns itself out when you use it, so you can't teleport again on that level. 1 PLAYER When playing a 1 player game, you start with 5 lives. Each time you complete a level you get to move to the next more difficult level. 2 PLAYERS When playing a 2 player game you race your opponent in mazes at the selected difficulty level repeatedly until one player has won 3 games. There is no real scoring system for the 1 player game because Klick-n-Play doesn't have a high score feature. PC Gamer/Maxis Contest Information: Jeff Brophy 10700 E.
