It can generate messages in many different ways, including combining lists of destination addresses and list of subject lines (subject lines are used for file attach and request). ADMsg comes in both a DOS version for 386 or newer, and in a 32-bit OS/2 version. ADMsg was previously called Msggen. 2 Shareware The files in this package may be copied and distributed if no fee is charged, if no changes are done and as no part of other products, in purpose to test and evaluate this product for a period of 30 days. 2.1 Use as sharewere To use ADMSG.EXE as shareware, you must first execute the supplied REGISTER.EXE and register ADMSG.EXE as shareware. Run REGISTER.EXE, specify ADMSG.EXE (or ADMSG.OS2) as file to register and do not enter any user name. ADMSG.EXE may then be used as shareware. When ADMSG.EXE is executed it will display the number of days since it was registered as shareware. 2.2 How to register To register ADMsg and use it for more than 30 days, you must pay 60 SEK, DM 15, UKP 5 or an amount equal to the sum of USD 10 in a currency of your own choice. The mail should contain the following lines: Prod=ADMsg User= You will then recieve an automatic reply with your private registration code, to the address you mailed your registration. When you specify your user registration name after the "User=", you should use your name together with some kind of address or location information. Examples: User=Anders Danielsson, AnDan BBS, 2:203/620 User=Charles Smith, cs@someplace.com User=Hans Schultz, Dernauer Str., Hamburg, Germany Use at least 16 characters, but not more than 63 characters. You may also phone AnDan BBS at +46-533-13700 and register on-line. The on-line registration is similar to the mail registration. E-mail registration replies through FidoNet are routed. Routed FidoNet mail may not work on long distances. If you don't want routed mail, use the on-line registration. 3 Support and new versions If you have questions, comments or find bugs in the program, please send electronic mail to the author, Anders Danielsson at FidoNet 2:203/620 or ad@andan.edv.se. If you want to use the OS/2 version, copy ADMSG.OS2 to a directory included in your PATH, and rename it to ADMSG.EXE. If you want to use both the DOS and the OS/2 version, do as above, and keep the PATHs different in DOS and OS/2 sessions. For example, in OS/2's CONFIG.SYS you may have: SET PATH=C:\OS2BIN;C:\OS2;C:\OS2\MDOS;... And in AUTOEXEC.BAT you may have: PATH=C:\DOSBIN;C:\OS2;C:\OS2\MDOS;... The DOS version of ADMsg is stored in C:\DOSBIN and the OS/2 version in C:\OS2BIN. 6 Command line arguments ADMsg has a rather complex command line syntax. It is mainly executed from DOS .BAT files or from OS/2 .CMD files, to automate message generations for different purposes. To make ADMsg easier to use manually from the prompt, it will ask you for all arguments needed, if any arguments are missing, or if you run ADMsg without any arguments at all. If you run ADMsg with the option /? it will display the following help text (use "admsg /? | more" for more prompt): admsg netpath origin from dest to flags [subj] [message] [/c] [/N] netpath Path to the netmail directory with *.MSG files. origin Origin address, zone:net/node.point, and default destination zone, net and node. Moves N lines from the subject file, and generate messages with those lines. ADMsg generates netmail messages (*.MSG files). The dest and subj files may have comment lines starting with ;. ADMsg will create a message for each subject to each destination. A ? may be used as any argument, in this case ADMsg will ask for that argument. This example is suitable to use in a .BAT or .CMD file for sending messages manually with the same origin.
