Who is Guddland digital ? ========================= Created in 1987, Guddland digital S.A. is a specialist in process automation. The founders were co-developers of a process control system which was used for all new projects until 1992. Three theatres were installed with a CAT system based on this hardware. Starting with a new system generation in 1992, Guddland digital S.A. was able to supply the stage control system for the National Theatre in Mannheim (February 1994, Germany) and for the Vienna State Opera (Decembre 1994, Austria). The German Theatre in Munich (Germany) and the Raimund Theatre in Vienna (Austria) are just finished. The site of Guddland digital S.A. is a 660 sqm buildung in Rodange (Luxembourg) Fields of activity ================== Outside the theatre stage installation, Guddland digital S.A. activities cover a variety of fields, as for instance : * Elektrisola (D, I, CH, USA, Malaysia, Mexico) Process automation for copper wire enameling machines. OS/2 is used as operating system since 1989. * Arbed (LUX) Control of an experimental rolling mill. * Goodyear (LUX) Measuring of rubber thickness and quality insurance. * BASF (GER) Control and power economising on chemical liquid pumps. * Effem (GER) Control of a sterilisation unit for pet food. * Opra de la Bastille (F) Expert opinion for the feasibility of the main platform regulation. * Paul Wrth (LUX) Molt level regulation. The company =========== Currently, the company employs 6 engineers. Two of them are system developers and are responsible for an ongoing development of the process computer system, while the other four are in charge of the current projects. As a rule, two engineers work together on one of these projects. Special care is taken that all the staff is well informed about current developments and projects at all times. Thus, no project ever depends on one person, and Guddland digital S.A. is able to guarantee for its customers the most reliable and fastest service. Guddland digital S.A. is a registered member of : ================================================= * IEEE * ACM * Internet Society ISOC * Guddland digital S.A. is in touch with the National High School of Technology. It benefits from the substantial know-how of these people, some of whom have been working in this field for over 20 years. Since 1988, the following theatres were equipped with CAT systems: Stadttheater Oberhausen Germany Grillo Theater Essen Germany Nationaltheater Maribor Slovenia Volksoper Vienna Austria Nationaltheater Mannheim Germany Staatsoper Vienna Austria Deutsches Theater Munich Germany Raimund Theater Vienna Austria Conclusion =========== A computer aided system means a great relief and an increase in new options for theatre operations. However, counter-weighted hoists should not be completely banished from the theatre as they are needed for special effects. For safety reasons, electrical drives cannot be used for highly dynamic procedures, which can be performed by means of counter-weighted hoists. According to international standards, in these operations acceleration may not exceed 1.0 m/s^2 and the maximum speed may not be more than 1.2 m/s. The CAT system is modular in structure and is based on standard assemblies already used successfully in industry. Thanks to its parallel structure, the sytem can be expanded to include a customer defined number of machines with a simultaneity factor of 1. According to the specifications of the german technical control association, the system has been classified under the safety category 3 and the service requirements category 5 with a diversified, two-channel structure. The supervising computer is optional and can be added on later. Thanks to its compact dimensions, the user interface computer can be dwelled in the control panel itself. The dimensions of the machine control cabinets can also be kept small. Any performances, no matter how complex, can be stored and loaded in again later. The complex movements incorporate asynchronicity, time-synchronicity, time-delayed, path-synchronicity and any desired combinations. The time-tested software and the experience in the process and theatre fields guarantee short putting into operation times. The system is suitable both for electrical and for hydraulic drives. Regular checks by means of remote diagnosis (modem) ensure the system's availability. CAT is undergoing constant further development and is adapted to each customer's individual wishes. A special 3D set-up mode (optional) makes it possible to move complex scenery hanging on several point hoists freely in space. The movement is controlled by a special control lever and is a great help for instance for setting up large ceilings. The TouchScreen, first presented at ShowTech '92 in Berlin, permits even more sophisticated operator control and also permits problem-free software expansion later. In order to perfect the operation of the system, a text suited to the current situation can be shown by means of a help key. In the simulation mode the system can even be completely programmed and manipulated without the machines. A 3D representation (optional) of the actual positions facilitates the orientation of the machines. This is helpful for the managment of complex sceneries. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Group: Guddland digital S.A. b.p.10 L-4801 Rodange Luxembourg Tel: +352 503521 Fax: +352 503524 -----------------------------------------------------------------------
