HELP.EXE - Run this to read online-documentation I have spent over 200 hours on this version of GRUNT 1.040[a..k]� There was so much to do, I did not have time for upgrade programs to the USERFILE.DAT to the new version. All this will cause is your users to start their players over. The difference is vast, and soon your users will be off playing in the vast dungeon that is only now unfolding before them. Everything has been updated. I could go on and on with all of the changes, but you'll have to see them for yourself! Incredible amount of time and effort! IF YOU ARE INSTALLING GRUNT FOR THE FIRST TIME: You will need to run the installation program, INSTALL.EXE. Simply type the word INSTALL from your C:\GRUNT directory, and hit enter. INSTALL will walk you through everything you need to get started. It will create the directories needed, and run the self extracting files GEN.EXE, GRUNT!.EXE and DUNGEON.EXE. These will automatically fill the directories DUNGEON and GEN with the appropriate files necessary. IF YOU ARE UPGRADING TO A NEW VERSION OF GRUNT! Install will note that the directories already exist, but over-write the files in GEN and DUNGEON with the new files. It will NOT overwrite your "USERFILE.DAT" file which contains all of your players - so don't worry! ** All updates to the code are listed in UPDATE.TXT ** U P G R A D E I N F O R M A T I O N: Grunt Version 1.040 has over-hauled the entire record tree. This was to conform to internal tables and further object-orient the programming. I've brought the code down under 200k and gave you ten times the game. Needless to say, the USERFILE.DAT should be removed. If you previously installed GRUNT version 1.040 and are now installing version 1.041 or higher, you will not need to reset your USERFILE. UPGRADE NOTICE! ==-----> HAVE YOU PAID FOR GRUNT? If you have paid for GRUNT, you will find that your old registration key does NOT work with the new version of GRUNT 1.040. This is due to new encryption routines within the code. It has come to my attention that hackers have built "CRACK" programs to hack GRUNT, forcing it to think it is registered - when it is not. Therefore, GRUNT 1.040 and all new versions have had their registration key mechanisms updated, and old registration codes are now invalid. In addition to this, GRUNT performs a self verification check to scan for imbedded viruses plus any hacked modification of the code. If it finds either, it will not run.
