Descent II Add-On Mission *Original Release Date: June 14, 1996* =Crazy X= The Crazy Level Compilation (Ten Levels) **Description** This is the final compilation of the Crazy Level series. It contains nine of the original levels in optimized form as well as one never- before-seen level. In addition, a completely new soundtrack has been included. These ten levels are meant for anarchy or flag play, but you can play alone for practice as well (no need to edit the .MN2 file). Based on responses from players as well as my own thoughts, I've decided to replace Motion Factory (formerly Crazy 4) with a completely new and much better level (Ender's Armageddon). In addition, the other nine levels have been slightly altered to make them even better. Textures may have been changed, weapons added or changed, but in general I've attempted to make the levels the best they can be. The soundtrack was composed by myself and all songs are completely original. They aren't composed as skillfully as D2's original MIDI songs, but they do provide a good change of pace. I've optimized them for a Roland Sound Canvas, but even lesser cards should play them with satisfactory results. Here's a listing of the levels: Level Title ===== ===== 1 Hydrophobia 2 Golden Swift 3 Absolute Limit 4 Ender's Armageddon 5 Terra Terror 6 Crimson Crash 7 Retro-Bution 8 Grindstone 9 Shockwave 10 Meltdown Sorry, but there's no caption for Ender's Armaggedon. =Legal Jargon= Actually I don't know the proper legal terms, but in short: You may distribute this level in its entire form given you include this .TXT file. You may not modify this level for redistribution. Also, you may not use this level for any commercial purposes without my express written consent. If you want to use this as part of a compilation or demo CD, at least tell me about first. Are you listening, PC Gamer? In addition, all songs are copyright 1996 Luke Schneider. All rights reserved by Last Productions. =Level History= As of this writing I've made about 30 Descent and Descent II levels (not all 30 are available at this time). This is my first level compilation, but look forward to more soon. I originally only intended to make 5 Crazy Levels, but I became so adept at making anarchy levels I could do one in less than 5 hours on the average. Here's what else you should look for by me for Descent II: Mega Deluxe 2-Kicks Mega Death's ass. 'Nuf said. Look for md2.zip on Turtle's Web Site and Googer's Crazy Page (see below). Xtreme Racing-Out now! Five levels of one-on-one flag play at its very best. You've never played anything like it before. Look for it on both Crazy pages. Havoc (Part I)-The mini-sequel to the Crazy series. Three levels of high-action anarchy/flag play optimized for one on one action. Look for it in the D2 level contest on Interplay's web site (coming soon if not there already). (Something Else)-That's not the name, but I do have something big brewing on the back-burner that I can't talk about yet. =Crazy Web Pages= You'll find all 10 Crazy Levels in their pure form on: Googer's Crazy Page: http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/~legowski/descent/crazy/ Turtle's Crazy Page http://members.gnn.com/~turtle55/crazy.htm Thanks Matt and David! =Who I am (Luke Schneider)= I'm a computer science student at the University of California, Irvine and currently available for work (hint!). In addition to creating levels for Descent and Descent II, I also happen to write MIDI music. And I'm pretty good with 3d art as well. To commend, condemn, or just about anything else, send email to: last@uci.edu Thanks to Matt for helping me test lots o'stuff and everyone else for the feedback on the Crazy Levels.
